My wife was eavesdropping a couple on the ferry the other day and told me one of them had said that Brits in aires were being ‘targeted’. I couldn’t establish whether they were really being targeted, as apparently this lady used the word targeted a lot when explaining why she was moving back to the UK, as ‘all the French’ were targeting them. It would seem they just were not being as ‘nice’, and she labelled that ‘targeted’.

It was also mentioned to be happening in Tours and le Mans.

I sent my wife back to glean more, but the conversation had moved on.

Has anybody heard of this happening?

I’ll post this on the France forum as well, assuming that it is not frowned upon.

Suavecarve, probably right. My wife’s opinion of the woman was not high - her view was that she might have been the sort of person who didn’t learn the language or integrate into her community, and wanted everything her way.

We spoke to a couple, in France, who have been touring for many years, they won't go to Italy as they have heard the pitches are small. .....asked them if they have done Spain, apparently pitches are small there according to them......just wonder if they have had issues as per the thread.

As regular visitors to France (currently there and have been since 25 July) haven’t experienced anything that could possibly be called “targeting” apart from friendly chats at the bacs vaiselle and general fascination over the Queen and incredulity that Bojo was ever elected😂.

Targeted? Indeed? :mm::mm:

My experience too, over the last couple of days. Earlier on this year on the Paris periphique on bloke gestured aggressively. Maybe he didn’t like me being in his way.
It wouldn’t have been an authentic Paris experience on the peripherique without that!

We were ‘targeted’ with some friendly advice from a French campingcarer on arrival at an aire south of Seville last night; he explained that the owner of the site was away and we should just pitch up. Given that our French is much better than our Spanish this targeting came as a great relief. People are often as you expect to find them.

Never a good plan to think there is any truth in what might be overheard, the words you hear may be from an idiot or just someone who likes to make up porkies just to enhance her conversational skills, or rather lack if them.

£30+ stops this year all friendly campers including Belgiums and Germans .

That’s what I said - to which she replied that as I didn’t like her being nosy I couldn’t have it both ways. And that I was to mind my own business. And that I should shut up. And that I could….

One night whilst doing the dishes, there were two Brit blokes doing theirs. I caught just the end of a comment “……she has a great mouth for cooling chips!”
I was completely flummoxed by this and have wondered what the discussion was about. The bloke who said it was from Pelsal so maybe it has a special meaning there?🤣

And I believe in la fée des dents ?

A few years ago in a pool in Tenerife I overheard a woman talking to a couple that they gave up motorhoming because they kept getting gassed….😎
Where do you think my Funsters name comes from ? Urban myth. Has any funster been actually gassed ? or just heard of a friend of a friend who thought they might of been gassed ? Especially after a night on the sauce. 😎

Hi.
Love the French and the country. Went around there, with a twin axle gin palace hooked onto a 4x4 some years ago. Being used to being " Leaned on 🚛 " on the roads. :ROFLMAO: . I kept a Tally of Incidents, wins and losses.....When we came off,it was France 3 Wins...UK 5 WINS. .... To be fair if i had had my way 29 years back we would have moved there and be fluent French speakers now,i had got the Gallic Shrug off to perfection, still use it. It says it all, without a word being spoken.
LOVE Portugal and all that entails,so, lucky us. " Vive la Belle France and Portugal "
