My van is 2009 Fiat Adria and is Euro 4 ,,, due to a diversion on M5 I was diverted through Bristols Clean air zone ...... after taking my Van to AutoBodies in Weston Supermare as advised by LV for estimates .

according to Bristols own site my van is exempt as its Euro 4 but Gov UK site says I must pay £9 ???

im confused should I pay or not ,, It was not my intent to go through bristol as i hate the place

Our 2016 Euro 5+ Motorhome has no charge.
Uprate above 3.5t to avoid charges and save on road tax.

EDIT - just noticed you've uprated - ours is 3,500 kg :giggle:

My results below?

Phoned The Bristol Clean Air number and was told ,, even though there was a temporay Diversion in place it was a police diversion and not covered by local byelaws , so charge still stands !!!! anyway paid it ,,if I go to Bristol I will use my old Motorcycle as that is free
That's shocking and totally unfair!! 😭 :( (n)

Send the bill to the police as they forced you to go through there. That excuse by the council is pathetic

Hi Mike

Yes, ours is March 2016.
Uprated to 3.7t with no mods needed.
Before being uprated we had the same charges you show for yours.

RobertJary

Those are similar to what we would have had to pay when we had our 2004 Burstner A747.

I only agree with your sentiments up to a point.

Although I haven't personally visited Hong Kong I'm pretty sure the geography is really not very similar to the whole of the UK?

Improved public transport in large towns and cities would be welcome, but it's never going to be the answer for more rural communities. :(

Sure - but i was talking about Bristol

Sure - but i was talking about Bristol

Ever since the 1980s Bristol has had numerous expert Reports recommending urban light railway / Tram / Underground schemes. Including re-opening the disused railway line to Portishead (relatively easy to do) for commuters after Portishead became a dormitory town for Bristol.

More than 30 years on there has been hardly any progress. Other major UK cities have got to the front of the queue for government grants, and implemented urban rapid transport solutions, but not Bristol and its sclerotic virtue-signalling City Council. Pathetic. The only thing they are good at is making things worse and more costly for private motorists, begining with money-grabbing Residents Parking Zones in the more affluent postcodes. More recently their CAZ.

That wouldn’t be possible in Bristol as so many vehicles are exempt. All petrol, hybrid, EVs and newer diesels and historic, I don’t actually know anyone without an exempted vehicle.
How long before my van is historic ?

How long before my van is historic ?
In 22 years time if it qualifies……..

the vehicle was built or first registered more than 40 years ago. no 'substantial changes' have been made to the vehicle in the last 30 years, for example replacing the chassis, body, axles or engine to change the way the vehicle works.
