looking for breakdown cover opions please thanks
You will get various replies to this.. I am with Green Flag thru Caravan Club...
Why.... no weight or size restrictions (unlike others who have 3500kg limit) and they will recover you if and when you get stuck in a muddy rally field.!!!
Sorry assuming you want recovery if just breakdown assistance size does not matter. I was with AA but they would not offer relay on my 4.1t van !!!

Safeguard - they have never let us down. Reasonable price and appear from nowhere to assist at the remotest spots. Good telephone assistance and help. Cant fault them.

Just done mine with driver guardian. Not sure how good they are but a good price.

I have excellent breakdown cover free with my bank account, Ok, so they charge £13 per month for the Nationwide Flexplus account but I stil think that is excellent value as it provides cover for whichever vehicle you are in and anywhere in Europe too. There are other benefits such as travel insurance and mobile phone insurance too. I think there is a maximum size of 8metres for motorhomes but worth checking out

Lessons learnt this year for EU breakdown/recovery, especially if travelling with pets
1. If there is a major mechanical problem like the engine blows up, even head gasket and repair costs abroad are over £500 then check recovery of the van to the UK, includes Travel costs to get you home, hotels, travel etc.
2. If travelling with pets/dog or maybe dogs, your speedy return travel by Air or Train will be difficult, so check out provisions made for hotels that accept dogs, hire cars/taxis from & too borders is at least £1500, you might well be out of pocket if any less.
3. make sure your van length & weight is covered for full repatriation to The UK.
4. Be prepared to wait 4/6 weeks to get your van back delivered to either your home or repairer of your choice.

The usual EU breakdown cover will not cover these costs, especially with pets, I have been advised that the CMC Red Pennant does cover Pets return home costs, however check out the fine print with all companies before parting with your hard earned, or you could be into a massive deficit in cover & costs to get you, the pets and the van home.

Yes agree.. but only if less than 3.5t....I was with AA for 40yrs but as stated in #2 if over 3.5t you can't use their relay service.

I was with rac, left me for 5 hours at the side of the road until I rang again after midnight. Since moved to green flag, same personal cover for me and the wife, and at cheaper cost.

Just got my mayday renewal through (green flag / cmc) premium uk £137, covers me and wife in any vehicle, plus a named vehicle with any driver (daughters). Covers us for all our 5 vehicles & 2 trailers. Uk only No size weight or age restriction. Generally don’t make big effort repairing on roadside just send recovery truck.

I used Green Flag for my L3H2 Boxer. And they have already driven me home on the back of a low loader.

Didn't have to wait long for them to arrive. Will renew when it's due.

we use RAC Arrival, we are big, heavy, & they have recovered us without problem. We are a Ford F150 + Jayco 5thwheel [total length 44 foot; weight aprox 5 & 1/2 tonnes] We did have to wait a little time for them to get the specialist lorry/equipment, but there was no extra cost involved. Originally had considered Green Flag, but they had weight/height/size limits which initially they did not tell you, plus for us they wanted/needed us to have a 50 ml ball hitch, which obviously being a 5th, we do not have.
