Hi top
Exp
Since 2009
Hi all I'm looking for a few ideas for breakdown cover for UK and in the EU. THE VANS 14YRS YOUNG .I'm with LV at present. Thanks

Saga looks after mine , been with them for years , currently paying £258.
Breakdown optional but fairly competitive I think .
After the first year they let me pay quarterly without extra charge.

I've just had a quote from Saga .with breakdown cover £599 .I've never had a decent quote from them for anything .that's with 7yrs no claims and clean licence. Thanks anyway .the reason I tried them was that some had a good price from them ☠

I’m like yourself all you get is bombarded with letters from them and never a decent quote.(n)

When I had the quote I think the breakdown cover part was £120 .I'm paying £180 to cover van and car with LV .

I took out breakdown cover with Green Flag last summer.
We had a major breakdown - clutch failure or der couplung ist kaput as they say- in Germany. We found Green flags response excellent. Phones quickly answered in English and issued dealt with efficiently. We were put upon a good hotel whilst the van was off the road, they made a difficult time a little easier.
I’ll be quite happy to use them again.

Did look at them but didn't beat my current price

Hi my van is 17 years old and I have just purchased an annual recovery including European cover for £250 through quidco. The cover is with the RAC and you get a years membership with the camping and caravan club included. The European part gives you up to 350 days cover. It was the best and cheapest I could find for the age of my vehicle

I continue to advocate the Nationwide FlexPlus account which costs £13 per month but includes breakdown and recovery for a MH upto 7.5T, 8m in UK and Europe. (y)
Also other benefits such as worldwide travel insurance, mobile phone insurance, etc.

Keep £2500 in the account and you get £6 pm interest, so the overall cost falls from (12 x £13 = £156) to (12 x £7 = £84) (y)

Transfer a current account from a different bank using their "Refer a Friend" system and both folk get a cash input of £100 ( effectively worth up to 15months free cover!). (y)

All reports which I have seen, plus my own experience, tell me that the service (provided by Britannia Rescue) is very good.

I'm happy to help ANYONE (including myself) get £100 for doing very little! ;)

Thanks for that info from RA and KE will look into both .

Is there a length of trip limit for breakdown cover. I have looked online but cannot find anything mentioned. I have banked with Nationwide for years, but always used ADAC for breakdown. I cant see them keeping UK customers if we have a hard Brexit.

I'm also with ADAC and feel I will have to switch to a UK based service..

They don't seem to indicate a max time of travel .I'm already with LVwho are part of this underwriting group paying £180 so I will benefit from changing plus the travel ins a bonus as well

I have had a 'chat' online with Nationwide and they told me that the breakdown cover is 180 days per year.

Thanks for that 180 would be plenty for me .If your full timing then another story .I did think that when I did it with LV there wasn't a time limit but not important for myself maybe worth looking into for others .

Well how does that work ?
Do you have to keep a log of all the time you use the van ?

Who knows maybe when your in the EU.UK COVER IS FOR THE YEAR .The 180 is EUonly .

Sorry I did not make clear. 180 days is for European Breakdown.
After I spoke to Nationwide I trawled through their terms and conditions again and found the limit terms on the website. It was worded slightly differently. I have just tried to find it again and can’t.
It’s in there somewhere.
I asked if 4 journeys of 6 weeks would be covered and he said that’s fine.

Yes is what I would of thought it meant .365 at home .you've been busy
