We are Resident in Poland and I am finding it difficult to get information on Insurers who offer Breakdown Cover for EU Residents, obviously with recovery to home country.

Can any of you EU Residents please give me companies to contact, preferably English speaking.

Thanks.

Geoff

I am not sure if the ADAC Will give you cover. But if they will that would be my choice by a long way.

So would I, but they have restricted new membership to those with German addresses only, except for renewals.

Unfortunately, although I had ADAC membership I dropped it when Safeguard included recovery.
Ironically I needed call-outs with Safeguard for minor things and the response was from ADAC both times.

I use ADAC Geoff. covers everything including medical & repatriation by air ambulance if necessary.
'Partner' is ,or was, 109€ with 'partner' + ( include partner) at 129€
Cover is for any vehicle you are in & seperately if using partner+
Number I used to sign up ,& also to check whether I was still covered living in spain after they offloaded UK members, was
(code) 0049 8976765161
I would guess that Basia may be able to converse in german ? If not " sprechen sie englisch bitte?" will normally get you transferred to an english speaking operator.

When I unfortunately destroyed my engine , 3years ago this Friday in Poitiers, they connected me to an english speaking French operator who arranged recovery to Fiat garage, hotel & taxis are covered as was the 'cross border' Hertz car hire to enable me to return home to spain. The Van was left at the fiat garage, ADAC arranged a low lkoder return within 3 weeks. French operator kept me informed apart from a mix up with the car hire but that was sorted before I drove off.
I do have very similar included within my vehicle insurance but find too much is better than not enough.

You just need to ensure A, they will cover you in Poland & B), weight & length isn't a problem.

Aah, I did not realise that when I phoned to check Iwas still going to be covered. As I was an existing member that is probably why I still have cover?.

We use Allianz. They've always been good when we've needed them. They even brought Martin back from Northern Spain in an ambulance, with nurse, when he had a non vehicle accident. We were with the motorhome but they didn't ask for proof.

Well when i had my policy through Safeguard, including Recovery(although I thing the recovery was covered by someone else), the Underwriters were Allianz.

When I re-registered the MH in Poland I thought I could get the insurance with Allianz, but they came back(after 3 weeks) to say they had stopped doing MH insurance in Poland.

The insurance market here is very non-competitive and inefficient. I have been struggling for weeks to get insurance beyond 'Third Party' and that does not include Fire and Theft. Only one company will quote for fully comprehensive, mainly because the MH is RHD.

Back to Breakdown Insurance, I think I still have my membership number for ADAC so I could try to get renewal, although it was a long time ago, and then there is the complication that I have changed countries and MH registration, which might freak out the German mentality.

Thus I need to be prepared for finding another company.
