took my motorhome in for brake squeal (2019 4800 miles fiat )
2 days later it has returned ( they
what else could be causing this problem
stripped down front and rear cleaned and greased up )

Bought Brunhilde 17 weeks ago and she squeals a little under more than moderate braking. I keep cleaning the brake dust at each wash with a wheel cleaning brush to keep the noise manageable. There's no disc judder and Brunhilde came with a new MOT from an Independent Garage, so they should have listed an advisory if there was evidence of a problem in the offing.

I try to brake early and gently for mpg, relaxed driving and 'squeal management' and hope to be able to live with the noise until the service when I expect to have the pads and/or discs replaced. Brunhilde is 5 years old but had covered only 8767miles when we bought her. We've added some 2300 miles since purchase, so it's probably going to be a 'not much mileage but age related' need for replacement' exercise.

its going back in today for mechanic to take a look

The widely practiced cure for squeaking brakes is to apply copper grease sparingly to the rear of the pads. Takes a few minutes for a half competent mechanic. Absolute no need to replace discs or pads.

The squeak is often cause by the vibration from the pads as the brakes are applied as stated copper slip sparingly on the back of the pads/shims can help. Might be an idea to check the wheel balance as well,

Copper grease is frowned upon these days due to it can cause issues with abs.

You can buy a special high temp grease that does the same job.

I never fit pads dry.

I fitted Mintex discs and pad to mine and they squealed like mad. I contacted Mintex and they sent out some anti-squeal stick-on sims free, they did the trick. Don’t know why they didn’t supply straight away.
