My Bose Sounddock III has stopped working. It won't play music from my i-pod (which connects via the stub/lightning connector). The i-pod itself is charged and works perfectly on headphones.
Can anybody body suggest a suitable low cost and compact replacement ?

We replaced our Sounddock a couple of years ago with a Bose SoundTouch 10. The sound is good but nowhere near the Sounddock, however being a smart speaker you can do more with it.

Check for dust / fluff in the iPod port, a common issue for many. From memory you should have a 3.5mm jack on the back of your unit so you could always connect the iPod into that with a 3.5 - 3.5 Jack to jack cable if the Apple connection is broken.. The Sounddocks were fantastic products and I used my old SoundDock Portable at a Wake only last week. More than loud enough to fill a room full of people.

Oh no, think mine went to Oxfam. I’ll just check in case we put it in the shed. In which case you can have it.

I’ve found EBay a good source of out of production tech. I managed to get an unused replacement trackpad for my beloved 2013 iMac after the puppy ate the original. Cost £65 but worth every penny.

I have a Soundock portable in my workshop. Fabulous sound when connected to my Tesco DAB radio. The ipod connector failed so I use the jack, and I also removed the battery as that was making the thing burp and pfart!

Thanks for responses I haven't thrown it away yet and I think I will explore removing battery as we don't use it portably. It sometimes works briefly. It does seem that it is a well loved product

the UE Booms (there are a range of them of different size and power) are very good - <Broken link removed>
I have a Boom 2 (but these appear out of stock at the moment)
Agree, we have a couple of them, a Megablaster in the house and a Boom 2 in the van.

I sent my SD 2 to these people. It was the type with the old iPod connector. They fixed it and turned it in to a Bluetooth speaker and gave it a new lease of life. May be worth a try.

Invebo looked like a very good shout but unfortunately it appears that they do not repair Series III Sounddocks. I havent quite given up yet !!

That’s disappointing. Might be worth giving them a shout, if you haven’t already. Sometimes they know who can. Good luck.

They are closed till the new year but I will give them a phone then. As you say they may be able to suggest something.

Try to have a look at Xiaomi products, low cost for a good quality products.
