We are currently parked up at the marina Spanish side next to Gibraltar we crossed over on foot this morning into gib no problem passport stamped, upon our attempted return into Spain this evening we were asked did you just visit for the day? Yes, ok where are you staying in Spain ? In our motorhome, ok do you have proof that you are staying in a motorhome ? No only the keys I guess was not the answer he was looking for.
do you have a photograph of your logbook? No afraid not.
how did you arrive in Spain ?
Plymouth Santander ferry
ok I can see the Santander stamp but next time you must have proof of where you are staying/motorhome.
this is the first time this has happened to us we were here in September and visited Gibraltar without any issue upon our return into Spain. some new rules maybe??

From what I have read this is increasingly a problem. Some vlogger (cant remember who) had similar problems back in November. Saw pictures on line today of enormous queues coming out of Gib. As far as I understand this is part of the ongoing war of words over the post Brexit arrangement between Gib, Spain, Uk & EU. Some more talks are due soon. Gib not in Schengen so Spanish police exercising their right to examine papers and require residence info and in some cases proof of finance, and return ferry booking. I understand that it may be possible to use the ticket you get when you arrive at the Aire outside Gib as proof you have a "home".

So from what the guy was saying a photo of log book should suffice?

Perhaps a selfie of you exiting Spain into Gibraltar...
...a timestamped photo of you an your van next to Spanish roadside ???

That’s not as daft as it sounds Stephen! The Blogger “our van tales” got wind of this last month and took his papers/passport/V5 and a couple of picture with him and the van parked at the marina!!
He had no trouble getting back in, in fact they even praised his actions👍👍
However he is stuck in Spain falling foul of the new “EU titre tests” that has just changed🤷‍♂️🙄

May I ask, what is the attraction of Gibraltar?, other than visiting friends?
I have relatives there and while there stock up on a few things, diesel was £1.01 a litre last time I was here 3/4 months ago now it’s £129.9 still a bit cheaper than uk I suppose

yes as stated Carpmart had problems & he was on his scooter & could point to his MH. I believe he also has a wife with an eu passport , so it should not even affect him?Although that might have been someone else?

This time last year, we never experienced any problems as pedestrian visitors, however the traffic queue going over to Gib was horrendous.

Being Ex RAF Trev, I never got to be stationed in Gib, so always wanted to visit. TBH, I don't think I'll be back. :(

Cheers,

Jock. :)

If you are that far south, Gib is always worth a visit, just to say it's been done if nothing else. Increasingly the population is integrating into Spanish side by marriage. Give it a couple of decades and I can see the residents voting to go to Spain. The border police have ALWAYS made it as difficult as possible to cross over, sometimes both ways!

When they inevitably mention that it is theirs, don't mention that it is British just as much as Ceuta is Spanish...they get all upset!

It’s the titre tests for the dogs, used to be able to get it done in U.K. and was good for Morocco but now it has to be done in the EU if you’re taking your furry friend to Morocco 👍

None! Took Mrs Westy to Gib, to re visit her sisters old house on the Harley (they was stationed there in the RAF) she said it had gone downhill, I thought it was a 💩hole tbh, topped it off nicely when I parked at the side of 6 other bikes in the corner of the square, some cockney taxi driver telling me to move my bike, I told him to do one and it descended into a big row🤷‍♂️😉😁😁😁

Thank you Westy66, that explains it nicely. Not being a dog owner I had never heard of it

I did wonder whether they would get around to changing that as the requirement was always "tested in an EU approved laboratory", which the UK ones are not now.

Not a chance…. when the Spanish all go home after working in Gibraltar for the day, it’s those who remain and live there who maintain the prosperity and uniqueness of the place and they ain’t Spanish orientated.

I still think they are sent to the EU and tested in a German laboratory, but still NOT acceptable for entry/exit to/from Morocco as it’s been done by a U.K. vet🤷‍♂️

Although we has no real issues when we visited Gib we were in a fairly long pedestrian queue of mixed nationalities only for a new queue to be made available as a fast track which we joined only to be told by a laughing Spanish policeman that it was for eu nationals only not "brexit"
The brexit queue had only one passport office open whereas the EU queue has several and mainly just ID card Checks.
We had no issues walking out though.

Probably thought you were dragging the place down by parking your Hardley there.
