Stayed here for 3 nights had 2 days fishing bit too hot really but a very nice place. Fished the pool on the campsite 1st day fished for the carp had about a dozen or so to around 7 lb all taken fishing paste on the pole
2nd day fished light for the silver fish used luncheon meat had a fish a chuck absolutely stuffed with fish must have had 150 fish roach skimmers rude perch and 2 carp

Really enjoyed it there is also a small old reservoir with big carp to 30lb but I don't fish for big stuff but plenty of lads catching double figure fish

Campsite immaculate some pitches a bit tight never went in the pub but it looked busy campsite bit pricey £22.50 per night plus £6 for fishing

I would go again very quiet in the week

Only downside pitched near the pond and canal have lots of Canadian geese poo everywhere

Just had a look at that... looks nice but a bit much at 22+fishing..

Did you try sweetcorn and pellet....

And was anyone silver fishing the large lake..?

Tried pellet caught a fish a chuck on both pellet and meat some nice roach and Rudd with the odd skimmer
They were mainly carp bashing on the larger lake but one guy was catching silver fish on the pole at about 4 mtr mainly roach about 4oz

Will give that a go sometime. Have also stayed at Green Man Long Itchington.

No, no fishing. Guess you’ve tried Eye Kettleby?

This place any good?

Between Calke and Melbourne.

Both of those are on the to do list

Dog lane is very good. Regular commercial fishery and another speci lake.
We have a rally there in a couple of weeks which will include a bit of fishing. I will let you know what we catch.

AS per previous post held 4 hour match at Dog Lane it was won with 34lbs 10 carp and 4lbs of silvers all caught fishing shallow with pellet and sweetcorn. In the lead up to the match it fished much better. A really good campsite and much better fishing than Stockton Res at the Blue Lias in my opinion.

4.5 hour match on Stockton res was won with 210 silvers for 10lbs all caught on single red maggot next weight was 7lbs 2 crucian carp and some silvers

dealornodeal thanks for the update, when I went to the blue lias pub I didn't fish the reservoir lake I fished the pond on the campsite it's a small lake with about 8 pegs I had a good day about 80 lb of carp fishing paste on the pole so can't grumble next day was boring roach every single chuck of about 4 oz was just so full of silver fish it really needs netting and thinning the roach out

Hoping to try field farm fishery near Congleton soon looks a nice place

Well I’m here for the week and fished it today....

I was on the top lake where carp were cruising around the surface and were eager to feed, caught using 4m expander and corn... plenty of roach and some nice rudd with the odd small carp....
feeding and using corn brought the bigger carp in 3-6lb...
Where I fished at the back of the lake it was only 3ft deep all across to the islands and fish were caught anywhere with easy pickings down the margins.
Just a leisurely fish today but I had about 40-50lb
Quite a few people fishing and all were catching.
There was a match on the bottom lake yesterday and 100+ Won it...

Will give the bottom lake a go on Wednesday....
