The first model it will issue is the Gold Star..

With a f!!!ing ROTAX engine for heavens sake..

ROTAX-POWERED BSA GOLD STAR
INTERNATIONAL
31/05/2019

BDN hears from India that, as expected, the first product from the revived BSA brand will carry the historic Gold Star model name.

The old Birmingham factory used it on super-sporting singles from 1938 to 1972 and the 500cc Clubman’s version of the late 1950s and early 1960s is one of today’s most coveted British classics.

The new BSA, from Mahindra-owned Classic Legends Pvt Ltd in India which launched Jawa branded bikes last year, is expected to be powered by a Rotax-made engine. It will be an updated version of the 652cc 655 single-cylinder unit previously supplied to power the Aprilia 650 Pegaso and BMW F650 Funduro.

The Pegaso was my first big bike, fair enjoyed it. Not quite in the same league as Mrs bigtree’s 690 Duke though. :D

It has to be said, a better engine than ever made in Birmingham.

My BMW 650 got through back tyres at an amazing rate.

PS to this. Whilst working on the bike ( I restored a write off ) I ran it with exhaust off, what a noise, it would have sounded good in any racing paddock.

From your reaction, I assume this is not a good thing!

How grown men can get so excited over such objects is beyond me...:) They are just motorbikes.

I had a 1955 350 Goldie when I was 16 complete with GP carb/RRt2 g/box. Loveley looking "square "engine -not very practical in town though! Sold it for £60 and bought a RE-GT (big mistake). If only!

Yup.. And a motorhome is just a motorhome, a car just a car, a house just a house.. and life is jut life. :D2

Without passion though it is barely life, just existing............ ;)

Only had a 500 one, and then not to use as it was a deal I did and it came in just as a for sale item

I lusted after an RE-GT ... I knew they suffered with a soft bottom end, but at 16/17 they just LOOKED so good !

Old man's heart speaking.

BSA - keep kicking 'till it breaks your leg. Learn to kick with other leg.

Rotax - press starter and Go.

No Sir.... THIS is a travesty

Made by Harley Davidson. It is powered by electricity.

I would imagine that big black thing in the middle is a loudspeaker.

the mahindra brothers run royal enfield as well and have for years .
the factory built royal enfields in india when it was a uk company but as royal enfield folded the brothers carried on making enfields .for awhile they were known as indian enfield ,there was a time restriction on the royal part.
but never mind even triumph m,bikes were made by germans in the beginning.
these days if you want quality better buy chinese . my chinese dax is 18yrs old this year and still runs great.

Nearly bought a GT a few years age but wouldn't have used it much (nostalgia ? ) .The biggest problem with the bikes was the 5 speed g/box shoehorned into the engine resulting in worn dogs /slipping gearchanges..Nearly put a Starmaker engine in it. Was the only "customised " racer type made at the time -shows how backward the British makers were. Still a beautiful looking bike though!

I have no problem with them making the bikes, in fact the Enfield range they are doing is stonking and good value for the money..
It just out of all the engines they could have chosen the Rotax, although a good solid reliable lump is never going to set the world on fire !

Count yourselves lucky, apparently I hate motor bikes of all descriptions I know this is true as my wife told me so and I am most grateful to her for putting me right as for many years prior to us getting married I was under the impression that I loved them (somehow my life seems to have a bike shaped hole in it since then)

I had an A10. Bloody hard to start, handled shite and leaked oil everywhere. Oh the good old days!
Yup.. you can always tell those who were not actually there and did not have to put up with all the crap brit bikes came with

Leather jacket, beard, cuddling a pint all night and extolling the virtues of brit iron !

In my youth I raced Triumph 650 pre unit in a chair it blew up regular then Norton Atlas/Commando.
A very good way to learn what spanner’s are for lol

That's probably the first bit of decent engineering I've seen from them. Are they giving up on tractors?

In my yoof I was the proud owner of Triumph TR6P Ex police show display team bike. It was a right rat bike, all sprayed in grey primer paint, even the tyres, all held together by bailing wire and cable ties.

I have owned various hondas yamahas harley sportster 1200 custom and a harley 1200 48. I even built a chop once. The best bike by far was the 1964 Triumph. It had a soul and personality. It also was a right Pu**y magnet too!

I miss that bike so much.

Always a problem when the pussy is the same age as the bike

I did the same with a ZXR 400 I was fiddling around with for the track.

Just down pipes and sounded like a Moro GP bike :)

My first new trials bike in 1991 had a Rotax engine and I can confirm they are good even when upside down or flying through the air doing cartwheels they still started easy:D:D
