Hi We are planning to stay in our new motorhome for the first time going to the NEC motorhome show. I dont think we can park overnight, can anyone recomend a nearby stop over for us? or shall I just try park 4 night etc? Also what are your recomendations for good wifi in the van?

Hi tallulah,

For WIFI, I purchased a secondhand unlocked MIFI mini router from Gumtree and an unlimited data sim from Three. I was paying £35 a month (no contract) but after a year and a half they emailed to offer the same package for £11 a month for 6 months then £22 a month for the final 6 months (12 month contract) so I upgraded.

The MIFI router allows up to 10 separate devices to connect at the same time. No problems streaming TV/films while away and the kids love having WIFI when they come and join us. I named our network “This Is Not Starbucks” which amused me.

Overnighting near the NEC during the show period could be challenging. Many who are going will have the same idea. You can't stay at the NEC itself, so have an array of apps with you. Might be worth trying to phone ahead for any likely pub stops or similar to try and reserve a slot somewhere.

I think there are a lot cheaper deals on data now. Of course it depends on what the mifi is for if you are wanting it for TV etc then MH WiFi might be a good bet if its just occasional email etc a cheap mifi and sim would probably do

Thanks guys, useful will research.

Cheaper but not truly unlimited....I spent sometime looking into data sims from all the networks and most are capped or will slow you down once you reach a limit.

Yes maybe but as I said depends what you want to do. We have a cheap mifi and a 24gb 24 month prepaid sim lasts the full 2 years!!.
We aren't totally phased if there's no signal for a day so not worth external aerials etc it's each to their own.
