Bilbao Toll (1 Viewer)

My mother in law lives in Montargil Portugal and is driving her motorhome over to the UK in September to visit us. She will be driving to Bilbao via non toll roads for the ferry but has been told there is an unavoidable 80 Euro toll when you enter Bilbao.
Can anyone tell me if this is correct ?

That sounds like a wind up 80 euros!!!!!! Who told her that did they mention gassing in the same sentence

We have caught the ferry from Bllbao a number of times but never been caught with a 80e toll.

There are a fair few toll roads near there but none will be expensive.

Haro to Bilbao is a toll road but i cant remember how much it cost but nearer 18e than 80

If you approach Bilbao from the west/Santander area along the coast motorway i seem to remember it was toll free.

I took this road last year and from memory it cost 12 euros. And well worth it it was too. The year previous I took the coast road and although it was spectacular it was one of those roads where you drive all day and at the end find you've only covered 30kms!

Just spoken to my mother in law and bless her apparently it’s not a toll charge it’s a congestion charge for motorhomes . Anyone heard of this ?

We have never taken the motorhome into Bilbao so i dont know.

But she does not need to enter the town to reach the port or the roads going to the uk.

If she is going to the Bilbao ferry she doesnt need to go near the city.
The port is a few miles to the West of the city just off the E70 motorway which follows the coast all the way from Northern Portugal.
If coming from the South, use the AP66 which eventually meets the E
Both roads are toll free

You can stay overnight at the port if the sailing is early morning.
Alternatively it is only an hour from the aire at Cabarceno which is a very popular spot with Funsters.

Burgos to Bilbao direct has payable toll route around 18 euros for 7.3m low profile, if travelling from portugal, via Burgos good toll free alternative is to take Santander motorway before you hit Burgos, then use motorway Santander to Bilbao
