Rewire Security are very competitive, you might want to spend a bit more on an S5 as that is the latest standard and some insurance companies only accept that.

We also opted for the Phantom S5 and the associated alarm which raises the standard Cat2 immobiliser to Cat1. Having spent many £000s of pounds on a vehicle getting top level security seems a sensible investment.

We got our Phantom fitted at the dealer well before the handover. Went direct to Phantom, they arranged the fitting within a few days.

That's what we have on our new van we pick up next week. Looks like you have to set alerts such as moving rather than it doing it automatically?

It's the cost of the S5 that is more expensive.
The potential saving come if you want to change insurance companies and the new one require an S5.

I would go for the highest standard which is S5. Next year when it comes to insurance renewal it may be the case that the most competitive company insist on S5. It increases your options at renewal.
I have the Meta Trac S5 Deadlock and have been very happy with it. They do a 3 year subscription which works out cheaper.

S5 is only £50 dearer than s7 and tracking same price, s5+ is £200 more and tracking £50 more 5+ not required by insurance companies.

We had S5+ fitted as it came remotely immobilise van if needed. Looking at the app I'm not sure if I can control it or control centre as the Vodafone one only control centre could with help by police so its done safely.

Can't remember ;)
We never noticed any difference in insurance quotes between S5/7. The only thing I would be concerned with is if the phone signal is different ie 3/4 g some were working on 2g -some came with yearly subs some 3 and 5 years

I think the remote immobilisation can only be activated by the control centre with Police confirmation that it is safe.

With my Meta Trak Deadlock S5 I can immobilise the vehicle on the app. This can only be done when the engine is switched off. It is designed to add an additional level of protection when the vehicle is left in storage etc. The vehicle will only start if the small immobilisation disk is present, if the vehicle is immobilised in the App it will not start even if the disks are present.
In the event of a theft or a suspicious alarm the App is immobilised, the control centre takes command and you lose ability to view. The control centre work with the Police and can immobilise the vehicle when instructed by the Police.
I only learned this when they called me one night to say the vehicle was moving with the engine off. I tried to get into the app to be told they had taken command. It turned out to be the wind rocking the van.

Pending Purchase
I went through the same purchase dilemma and selected a S7 tracker / alarm combo from Moving Intelligence (Sentinel S7). A few reasons why - (1) My insurer (Comfort) is happy to accept a S7 Thatcham-certified tracker (our van is valued below £75k) ; (2) there appears to be no insurance premium benefit to having S5 over S7 ; (3) it was £300 cheaper than the S5 version yet provides the same tracking capability, only difference is Auto Driver Recognition (ADR) via a fob with the S5 (4) I checked with Moving Intelligence and can upgrade later to the S5 version for £300 if insurance requirements change in future (5) I can not be bothered with the faff of having yet another key fob to carry around that I need to keep separate from the keys. I know that the ADR protects from key theft but I will try to keep my keys safe instead.
