Any one done the ground work? dont need one with CD player. but low watts use.
Laurie.

the word on the street is that a firestick is better than a smart TV as it has a buffer memory and this mostly prevents buffering.

We have a falcon we are happy with.

I agree with Phil D
Get a standard 20 inch TV and a firestick, make sure its the latest firestick not 1st generation one.

Basically they connect your TV to the internet so you can use I player itv catch-up Netflix (as long as you pay) without buying a smart TV. They are cheap and work well

That's exactly what we are doing for Catchup TV, however, the Sky Go App can't be functioned from a phone or a tablet, only from a PC.......................as I have discovered recently. :(

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Sky go app works fine on iPad. I think Sky go extra requires an additional subscription though.

I was checking Android forums for a solution, so I don't know about Apple products, but that's when I came across the reason Sky Go can't be viewed via HDMI from an Android device, but can from a PC/Laptop. :(

It appears that even folks on Android 9 with a Sky Go Extra subscription, are experiencing the same problem. :(

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Yip, I see what you mean now. Folks say the official apple adapter works but after trying and failing with iPad and Samsung adapters, I decided to purchase a Chromebook and external hard drive. I get all the apps I need from the google shop so I am good to go(y)

Got a decent Finlux TV, miles cheaper than Avtex. good picture, 12v and 240v, built in DVD. Bought direct off their website.

Don’t know if this is a common problem, but when I had a new Avtex aerial fitted, it wouldn’t work with my old, but adequate TV. Something to do with the TV needing to send voltage to the aerial booster, so might be worth checking compatibility with your aerial? Just a thought.....

Silly question here, does all the above with fire stick etc, cost on data usage???
If you have not got enough data, then surely it won't work?

Or is ole Flooky missing something:confused:o_O

I don't have a fire stick but tether to my iphone so I would have to ask my employer. Dear employer, how many "Gs" I have used over the last 5 years on non-company business....don't think I will do that :)

It's to power the aerial booster. There should be a power supply provided with the Avtex I guess, it doesn't have to be powered by the tv. If there is not one, you may need to purchase a separate booster (a sort of signal amplifier), you can get them 12 volt or 240 volt. Look at the manual
