Recommendations for an 8m motorhome to arrive at Loch Ness shores campsite from A9 travelling from the south.
There are apparently three routes all involving single track roads just wondering which would be best.
Best Regards

where in the south?

I would take the A9 to Dalwhinnie then turn off to Spean Bridge option

Some single track take care of the loggers, they take no prisoners, but never yet seen one have a bump

they win by intimidation  (y)

Down to Inverness, over the bridge, then hang a right toward Dores. Avoid going through Inverness, terrible traffic.

Follow the local directions on the C & C book, couple of small roads you would not want to try near the site.

M74 to Glasgow....A82....Loch Lomond side....Glenco....Fort William stay on the A82 and that will take you to Loch Ness.
All good roads.
Mrsambulancekidd. The problem is when you get to Fort Agustus or Inverness you HAVE to use single tracks to get to Loch Ness Shores which is on the other side of Loch Ness

there is nothing good about driving alongside Loch Lomond, apart from the view you dare not take your eyes off the road look at

narrow and twisty, evil bit of road, but the rest is worthy of a go though (y)

It is all A roads, you can't avoid single track roads at the end.
The OP asked for the best route, just trying to help.
Yes i know but the way I read OP's original post was how to get from the A9 to Loch Ness Shores. Sorry if I misunderstood.
As a point of interest yes your route all good roads but you must admit the A82 at the top end of Loch Lomond is definitely not for the faint hearted.😅😅

Avoid the west side of Loch Lomond if you can. We just took our 7m motorhome up to Fort Augustus last week. We used the A9 up to Perth, up past Pitlochry to the Dalwhinnie turn off onto the A889. Then left onto the A86 past Loch Laggan, round the side of Loch Lochy on the A82, Loch Oich, on through Fort Augustus and along the side of Loch Ness to the site. Lovely scenery, enjoy the views, it’s all part of the trip. There’s plenty lay-bys to use for tea breaks.

Guessing all the wild tenters have gone... We took that route 3weeks ago and I struggled on numorous occasions to get my 7mtr pvc thru because of all the abandoned cars. don't think I would have made it in a wider van. But yes stunning road.

Just day tripper cars in the lay-bys thankfully, no cars on verges. Think the weekend roads are probably much busier that they are on weekdays though

As you approach Inverness on the A9 from the South take the exit signed for Raigmore Hospital and follow the road to Dores. Keep the loch on your right and follow the signs. There are plenty lay-bys on the single track section so you should not have any problems.
Really good site and friendly owners.
