I got some time on my hands in the UK looking for a nice quiet place to camp in the UK for about a week. Don't need resturants pubs attractions etc.
Can't do silly 30 quid a night with dogs kids clubhouses facilities etc, just quiet and not to book just turn up.

Solo motorhomer here. just need to chill.

Any sensible suggestions?

EDIT: Current location London south east

It would be helpful if you can share your location at the moment otherwise any posts could send you hundreds of miles away and cost more in diesel than £30.00 a night for a week.

London/South East

Its funny I don't mind spending on diesel, but will not pay ridiculous fees just to plot 4 wheels up in a muddy field and on facilities I don't use.

Up for wild camping ideas too, but I know that can be all a bit secret squirrel for good reason

£12 per night with electric for forum members. Not sure about having to book but you would definitely have to check availability at least.

Owned and run by MHfun ringleader Jim

Lyndon Top overlooking Rutland Water £10 per night.

Presumably for a week you need some facilities i.e. water and elsan. Do you need electric hook up?

But parking for a week what else are you hoping to do? Do you want to be a hermit in your van, take long walks, see some sights? Many locations might be OK for 2-3 days but after that do you need access to bus / train if you are leaving your van behind?

There may well be a number of THS and CLs around that would suit, without being excess cost full facility, but you would need to be part of the C&CC or CMC to book onto those. Even so, at this time of year turning up ad-hoc for a week could be a challenge as many smaller sites will have limited capacity and might not accommodate you for a full period.

Lidl Streatham might suit as can be quite wild there. If full try the CL in Brixton

If looking to stay for a week within easy reach of the ferry and tunnel before returning home don’t miss out on staying local to the Romney Marsh area. The CL site below comes very highly recommended by motorhome / caravan owner friends who have recently stayed there for a short break although they live local. It’s shown as a C&MC CL site but its also listed openly on the internet so hopefully take bookings from non members.

Another site that gets good reviews from local friends is listed below and a bit more into the centre of Kent. They have a museum of old 3 wheeled cars that may be of interest.
