So,

Gets my nice new posh car.

Asks my wife why there is a loose panel in the car. No idea.

Later that day, I went out in the car. Came back, asked her why she had took the dash cam out?. I haven’t she said.

Looked back at my cameras.

We have "nest" camera's - they are rubbish - sorry I can't really positively help.

Also sorry for your loss and hope the scum bag is id'ed and sent down for a long time.

I had not locked the car. which was lucky, as he was going to smash the window with his crow bar.
And then you could claim on your insurance but not locking it kind of cancels that.... As it would if he'd nicked it. No entry damage but the ignition ripped out would take some explaining.

I am surprised - we have multiple Nest cams at home - when a guy tried to break into ours it alerted us - we could go out - shouted and he ran - police pulled him as he had done multiple cars in area and he was sent 'down'... Sadly only for 24 weeks.

Local police said best quality cam footage he had ever seen.

We’ve got I hard wired system in 4K, which is brill, this runs alongside Ring doorbell and floodlightcams, both are excellent image wise and record fantastically to a remote server rather than a physical hard drive which is another advantage.
It picks up motion etc and records sound and video immediately, as well as hearing everything, you can speak through the cams, but if anyone rings the bell it can sometimes take a few seconds to reach my phone and ring if I’m away. Pictures and sound is crystal clear.
We’ve also got a set of Nest cams internally which are brilliant. Even better quality pictures than Ring and again 2 way sound as well as live alerts and video, much the same as Ring.

Just to add, the Ring and Nest systems send alerts to my phone and tablet straight away if any motion or sound is detected so I can view what’s going of and respond no matter where I am. You can set motion zones too so you know someone is there before they get anywhere near the property and not while they are stood right there.

Window excess £75 or more
Claim against you on insurance
Hassle?
Glass everywhere? (its acoustic glass too)

Dashcam £50 (Tenner down the boozer)
A Tenner down the boozer and these are the pictures you get. I can see the fillings in his teeth on mine at night.:)

You would be paying a significant amount of money for a top quality camera which may not at night significantly add to ID capabilities.

If your cameras give you good daytime ID then consider investing in good lighting. The hard bit is sighting and adjusting IR detectors so they don't pick up night time wild life. When the lighting is on the cameras will normally revert back to colour.

From the plethora of posts on Social media... It appears to me that cameras ( locks et-all ) only deter honest folk... Scum bags don't care if they're being filmed...

I suppose the way he is dressed he could argue he is working locally or people would think it’s his house. Baseball cap and TShirt with a crowbar is a dead giveaway. We had a guy round us using his car with a roof rack and set of window cleaning ladders. Someone took a note of the reg number as not seen him before. Police picked him up.

We have a local Facebook page. It’s a good image might be seen again using the same tactics. Would be worth posting it.

Some just accept things like this now as part of life. I know some firms who don’t lock the diesel tanks on their trucks because it’s cheaper then have them put a screw driver through the tank and pinch it. Not good times.

Hopefully that's when they're lying on the ground after you've belted them out!(y)

I am too old and unfit.

Last robber I caught was on the run from prison. Spent most of his time in the gym when he was in he clink.

Biceps like my thighs. But when he threatened to come back and rape my wife and kids, he was soon on the floor.

Endless days wasted in courts. He got 6 months added to his sentence. That included being on the run !

Any links to the 4K ?

And they wonder why people see jury service as a complete waste of their life and time.

If he'd ripped the ignition wiring out it would definitely not be moving. It isn't possible to hot wire anymore. :)
