I’m sure this has been asked lots but we are about to go away again so not much time for our own research. We have a Huwaei mifi unit and got a Vodafone sim (£15 bundle) which we thought could be rolled over for several months (assuming we didn’t use all the data) but that isn’t the case. So I’m wondering if there are any sims you can buy that don’t have a time limit and that you can top up when data is getting low. In theory we wanted to use it to watch some tv on our iPads but haven’t managed that partly due to signal and just being happy not to watch tv, but we definitely want that option as well as the normal Facebook, email checking. Any recommendations would be really helpful.

Three do various data sims which are prepaid and the data can last up to two years. You can top them up as well. They are contractless and as such, Three can not help themselves to your hard earned cash. BUT how much data you need is really up to you.

The other thing to mention, as you may have found in other threads, data usage in Europe, inc ROI, is very limited.

Best of luck with your search.

There's this..
Amazon product ASIN B01M3VJ2B2
We have this as a backup to our phones. There are limitations abroad so we carry a few and just swap them over if we exceeded the allowance, but they're expensive to top-up.

Not on the one I posted. Go Roam is available at no extra charge according to the disclaimer on the Amazon website.
It's very confusing this is from Three's website.

Go Roam lets you unlock your call, text, and data allowance in 71 destinations around the world. So, you can explore in Estonia, voyage to Vietnam, and chill in Chile, all while keeping connected.

Go Roam update

To unlock your UK allowance in Go Roam in Europe, there’s a £2 daily roaming charge. When you Go Roam Around the World, it’s £5.* The daily roaming charge is triggered as soon as you use any of your plan's allowances in a Go Roam destination and lasts for 24 hours. If you’re on Pay As You Go, or your Pay Monthly plan started before 1 October 2021, these charges won’t apply.

Hmm, I can't see how this applies to their prepaid data bundle cards. Having made the purchase through Amazon there's nothing else to pay and no banking details have been exchanged with 3. Just pop it in the router and it works. Now using our phones this was it backup and we carried several so when we'd used our monthly allowance a simple card swap got us going again. Buying extra data is expensive which is why we had a few in readiness.

I am using Superdrug which uses Three but allows up to 25Gb roaming. It is my home broadband as well and I just move from home to Motorhome. I have a 4G aerial on both. £20 pm and it can be paused when you wish. There is not the daily roaming as on the three network.

Sillious Sodus I have have a similar to the one you put up the link to on amazon but but mine is a two year jobbie and it's about to run out. According to Three's website If I topup it only lasts for a month. Do you top yours up or just buy another?

I found it very expensive to top up which is why we carried several. Currently we're down to 2 but as I said before we use phones primarily and the cards are a backup - but in the router they get a better signal. They all have the 2 year time limit and any data left over the is lost.

Sillious Sodus Apologies I shouldn't have doubted you. I was in town so popped into the Three shop and asked, so from the horses mouth there is NO extra daily charges on a PAYG loaded sim card as you rightly said.

(y) They did offer me 20G for £60, I declined as what you found on Amazon is way better so thanks for that.

As an alternative for the 3 24Gb data sims there's this from EE if you use a bit more data. Equates to just over £4 \ month for 10Gb of data.

Broken Link Removed

Never tried it but believe it works in EU.
