We were touring but I had a job to complete so had to find somewhere to park up for 6 days, that would give me some quiet and keep Siân happy. This was it, parked next to a lake in Italy, great weather, very few people about. I took this picture from my 'Office Desk" under the awning Yes that is Siân, apart from an hourly dip, she laid on that pier for a whole week.

Taking early retirement and waking up to my new "office" view in the New Forest

Probably spent less than a month at home over the summer months (mostly to catch up on laundry), and seemed to be out and about everywhere putting the van to good use.

Two memories stand out for me, both from the same holiday adventure. Finally finished building our Travelwagon after 3 years and managed to get across the pond to France, spent a week there winging it with my three Girls, one being my very patient wife:giggle:

Seeing a skittle of geese (new collective term in our household!) at Puy Du Fou was one of the highlights.

The other was seeing Le Grand Elephant at Nantes, both magical experiences that we'll never forget!

I think ours was being parked at the top of a hill in E. Poland which was a gliding site, but a very posh one with a posh hotel and we were allowed to park in the CP right on the edge with our tables and chairs on the grass, while Basia walked in the woods and I watched the gliders launching - they were getting good 'lift' that day and some did not come back for hours.

At the end of the day we ate outside at the hotel restaurant with a beautiful quiet evening.

All very civilised and beats any campsite.

We found many good places in the area with good food, but that was the best.

More than one, I'm lucky enough to say:
  • Dog sledding in Norway

  • Snowmobiling at night, also Norway

  • Rocky Mountaineer, Canada

  • Wild bears at the roadside, Jasper

Before heading to Venice to see this. One of my long time ambitions.

not bad when the year started like this

I wouldn't describe it as "good" but attending H.M. The Queens service of thanksgiving in St. Gilles Cathedral in Edinburgh shall be something I shall remember for the rest of my life. I was attending as the partner of my mother as my father was unable to attend. I have never felt such an air of emotion inside and outside the Cathedral as Her Majesty was carried in, it was an absolute privilege to be able to attend.
I watched my dear friend Alex carry the Scottish Crown Jewels behind her Majesty, what an honor for him and I was so happy to be there and to see it happen
I wore a rainbow lapel pin on my jacket, my mother took it as a nod to my connection with the NHS. When in reality it was for the original "owners" of the rainbow flag, the LGBTQ+ community, many of which served Her Majesty all of her life.

Nothing special comes to mind for ‘22 but the whole summer was fantastic for us.
Pippa started to behave as we wanted, we spent most of the summer hopping from THS to THS, unplugged-from EHU-all summer too.
Just had a really lovely time.
The the only down was funds got punished by all new front suspension and then the EBL going t…ts up, more or less all at the same time!

Meeting our first grandchild, Amalie was definitely the highlight of 2022😀

Motor-homing wise I think it was our trip to north Norfolk during the heatwave of July.

Great places to visit, great food and beautiful (albeit a bit too hot) weather. This picture taken from the costal path near Burnham Market captures the spirt of the place perfectly.

Too many but to name a few:
. 1st year with Tigger the campervan - my life is complete
. Getting rum tasting for my birthday at Berry Bro’s - bloody lovely!
. Hen do of do’s in Morocco - liver has recovered… just
. Spending a fair few miles on the bike to stay healthy and happy in mind and body
. A crazy and joyful weekend in Alderney - what a gift of a place!

Roll on 2023!!

Toured Spain, Portugal and France for a month after collecting our brand new Ducato conversion from S&L motorhomes a few days before! Didn't stop for more than 2 nights as we're excited for the next adventure.
