.... One of my regular late night arrival stop-overs, not for aire facilities (none) but for convenience from the Dunkerque ferry and there's always space there.

The only drawback for me is that last 50m approach road(track) which can test the vans suspension.

Anyone been there lately? Road surface any better?

Same here, we always use it as a first stop if going that way.

Just take it slow, it's been like it for years. There's a 3.5t weight limit on it too, totally ignored by everyone of course. I don't suppose the lorry that empties the bins is only 3,500kg.

You could try Arques, lovely aire 2 euro, locked at night 9pm, open 7am I believe. Stopped here several times on the way back, nice water gardens behind campsite which is next door, also a large lake/reservoir you can walk around., then in morning do shopping at St Omer.
