Just looking
Have heard that this site is well recommended, so we are off there tomorrow for a couple days as part of a Northumberland trip.
Going to have a wander round the village, but also will have a walk up to Hareshaw Linn waterfall.
Walking distance about 2.5 miles each way.
Is Bellingham village good for a look round?
Is it safe walking along the road sections?

Don't know the area.. but have you looked on Google Street View, it's something I often check on to see how safe (or not) the roads are for cycling.

Never thought of that thanks, was just looking at Google maps!

Usually askign the wardens on arrival at CCC sites results in good results, most we have visited have a set of guidebooks you can photo (sometimes in a hut).

We've been on many walks we would never have found on Google via them (especially around Cromer CCC site).

It’s a while since I’ve been there but this is how it was. The road outside the site isn’t hugely busy but you can get some fast travelling traffic and lumber trucks. The walk into Bellingham is easy but for the first couple of hundred yards there is no pavement. After that no problem. Bellingham is a nice working village, with a couple of pubs, a hotel, butchers, bakers, some shops, a co-op and some cafes, one of which is an old railway carriage. The walk to Hareshaw Linn is lovely, and there’s walks along the river. There was a good article about Bellingham in a recent edition of MMM.

Thanks, sound like we can do the walking safely.

Thanks starquake.

It's a bit of a walk into the village. River bridge pedestrian area is road separated only by white line. No street lighting even on campsite as dark sky area. Note green fluids in toilet disposal only. Village centre is small despite claiming to be capital of somewhere. Nice area for cycling lanes out to moorland or even to Kielder reservoir if you have the stamina.
