Hi. Location? Base van? Year? Engine?
Was the fanbelt properly tensioned? As my belts used to stretch on my 1999 van the battery light would stay on longer and longer (as the belt was slipping but not audibly at first). There is some part of the alternator / solenoid set up that adjusts the output voltage of the alternator too. Any local garage that deals with vans should be able to take a look OR get the person that replaced alternator to have a look?
Have you got a multimeter you can put on the battery terminals when the engine is running, just to see if the alternator is charging ? You should see around 14 volts with it running.
Check that the engine to body earth lead connections are clean and tight , A Peugeot van workshop would have the diagnostic check equipment for the van/cab side of things.
