Good Evening. Very new to motorhomes so would appreciate your advice and comments. Have bought a Battery Master from Eddy van bits and hope to fit it (with electrical support/help!) this Friday. Have taken a picture today of the Sargent PX300 next to the PSU where I understand we connect to (picture attached) Can I just get some advice over and above the supplied instructions how to connect up to the wires shown.

Second photo of a monitor that I assume is connected to our solar panel. Had just reonnected fully charged vehicle and lesuire batteries and wonder what this monitor is telling me?

It's the first time I have taken the wooden panel off fitted above these items. As I say above very new to the motorhome world!

Thanks

Sorry about that 🙄

As the wiring from the PX300 charger seems to have been altered for some reason and does not appear to be routed through the PSU , as I would expect , It may be better to connect the Battery master direct between the leisure battery and starter battery if possible , in case other wiring has been altered. (it is normally possible to make the battery master connections at the PSU if required)
I do not know which model it is but the solar controller appears to be showing a fully charged battery (yellow light) and I expect that the green light may be on in sunlight to show that solar is available (although it may be designed to go off if battery is fully charged)

The solar controller (that black thing) is a basic PWM model. One was fitted to my Autotrail. Never found any specific instructions for it. Green LED, as above, shows if panel is getting sufficient power for a charge, other LEDs are state of charge on the battery, but I never found out if it even did a bulk / absorption / float, or was simply on or off. Certainly no ability to select different battery types. That it isn't even screwed onto something suggests someone has been "bodging" stuff.

I connected mine directly from Hab battery to cab battery, routing the wire was a bit tricky tho.

Is it a dual battery controller?
Just connecting them together means you could be draining the starter battery into the hab battery

Thanks for your comments. Nothing I am afraid surprises me with our motorhome 😔 It's a bit depressing with the problems and issues we have had with the vehicle. However in the scheme of things and what's going on in the world it's very minor.

Sounds like I am going to have to get a professional in as these matters are well above my skills.

I am in Essex. Does anyone have any recommendations (though visiting Dorset next week in the van as long as the MOT goes well today!) Who could sort this out and make sure everything else is OK. That would include checking the solar monitor I discussed also above.

Thanks again to everyone for your interest and help. ☺

If the solar controller is working in sunlight (green light on) then it is probably working ok and only needs fixing so that it is more secure, the duel solar charging of your starter and leisure batteries will be taken care of when the battery master is fitted so the basic type of controller you have should be ok .(as long as the controller is wired to charge the leisure battery)
There may be good reason that wiring has been altered and , if everything is working as it should , it may not matter to much.
Hopefully someone on here will be able to put you in touch with a reliable person in your area to check these things out for you , who will also be able to wire in the battery master , a straightforward job , either battery to battery or using the PSU wiring.
Hope the MOT goes well and enjoy your trip to Dorset.

Thanks GeoffnDee. We hope so!

If they can fit you in, Taunton is not that far from Dorset and Vanbitz will do the job properly and also advise you if they find anything that hasn't been connected properly in the area they are working on. When I had my growler fitted they spotted an issue on my van, they made it safe to drive so i could take it to a Mercedes dealer and have a new part fitted, great service from Eddie's team.
