So, for ages now we seem to have had problems with charging of the alternator (and solar, but that's a whole other thread).

Today, I have gone in to try and work out why, and hopefully fix the loose connection (yesterday, I got it working at the start of the journey with a wee shuggle, but it was not working by the end of the journey again. The result of my investigation is this:

Any ideas where I could source such a part (I'm currently on the outskirts of Barcelona, but can't find anything similar online). It bolts onto the base of a board with some big cables and 'maxi' fuses, at the moment, my best option I think is to re-orientate it and bolt it into the tightening bolt of the bollards clamp. It's either that, or cycling round garages in pigeon Spanish asking for the part (which I can't find online).

could you get someone to order you one and post it or is it needed 'yesterday'?

Put the wires to the bolt going through the clamp and refit to battery. Its only a fancy connector plate and does nothing special (not fused etc) and the clamp bolt will serve exactly the same purpose

Cheers, that's all really useful, I've got it back together as is with a metal cable tie doing a but of holding and a bit of conducting, and can now show the links in a car parts dealer. It's working for now, and showing 12.9v rather than the usual 12.2v on the engine battery, so what I've done seems to be an improvement.

Find one with a 'Bosch' sign outsdie .they'll either be a stockist or they will know where the nearest one is that deals in electrical parts.
