I'm about to connect another battery to my present two installed.

Assuming that the length of cable between the new and the old are, at most 700mm, is there anything gained by having the 25mm sq. Cable as opposed to 16 mm. sq.
I suppose the question could be asked, in practical terms, is anything lost by having 16mm. sq.

With that distance 16 mm sq will fine providing your max current raw is not more than 100 amps.
As what Lenny said....cus what Lenny says is right.

You could ask another question regarding adding another battery to your existing pair, see what Lenny can help with that...,👍🤔

Adding a third battery to the existing two .....
There are some considerations beyond the cable size.
How are you connecting the three together and where are the -ve and +ve taps from the overall bank to the system being connected?
How does the third battery compare to the others in terms of size and type and how old are all the batteries?

When I was changing wiring I found the 12VoltPlanet guide useful, particularly the calculator lower down the page.

If the other two are connected in parallel with 16mm2 wire links, then for safety 16mm2 is quite adequate. For voltage drop, it would be better to use 25mm2 or even 35mm2, as I'm guessing that the 700mm links are at least twice as long as the existing links. Or double up the 16mm2 if you already have some of that. In practical terms, it's something that affects the battery life long-term, not an everyday problem.
