Hi
Thinking of making Barcelona one of our places to drop off this year, now I can use Google etc for research, same as everyone. However, the information is never as good as the info you get from someone who's been there and experienced it, so, from personal experience, can anyone recommend:
1/ A nice camp site with good bus link not far from the site, into the city
2/ Other destinations/places worth visiting near Barcelona
Thanks

There is a nice site at Vilanova i la Geltrú which we have stayed at. It’s on the outskirts of town but recall others saying easy access to Barcelona. The local town below on the coast is quite nice too

Hello,
I have booked 7 nights at Campingbarcelona from 1st June, heading down there for the Motogp.
I booked this site on recommendation from a few others on here. They have a shuttle bus to Barcelona.
Works out at £21 / night with 16amp hook up, just me and the van, wife is working.

Gaudi Crypt just outside.
I think this is the link
If it is correct there is a free aire.
You may notice I like free stuff, and it is possible to get your camera through the gates and take a photo without paying.
I am told it is really good, I just dont understand it.
The free aire is very nice though
Great, didn't expect any free Aires anywhere near the place, will research your info, thanks,

Thanks, made note and will look it up, shuttle bus from the actual site is good, I may have viewed this one on line, but like I said, reviews from funsters who've been is better than any random web searching

Another vote for this site. Bus service direct to Barcelona just outside and a frequent local bus to the town - we really like the town. Good showers and pitches. Very reasonable with ACSI.

I don't know how long you're there for , Barcelona is a fascinating city , we spent 3 days there and didn't see half of it , unlike British cities there are police everywhere in the city centre and they all looked like if somebody started running they were getting caught , even the ones in their 50s

However once the shops close it does take on a more sinister side , we walked the length of las ramblas then remembered we'd left a gift in the restaurant so I left my wife in a cafe while I went back to get it .

Street vendors with fake goods everywhere , the police seem to tolerate it for a while , the goods are all laid out on sheets on the ground , somebody blew a whistle announcing the police were coming and whoosh , sheet pulled up on ropes tied to the corners and they were gone.

A man on his own walking las ramblas at midnight also has to run the gauntlet of many prostitutes and invites into dark alleys where I suspect any business conducted comes with a free mugging.

If you've never been to Barcelona before you'll love it , like most cities the hop on hop off buses are a good investment because they go to everything you're likely to want to visit.

It appears the crypt is still there but the aire seems to have disappeared on google maps and search 4 sites.
I remember leaving a review on there so must have been removed as well

Last year we was supposed to go, but went to Valencia, then South along the coast to Gibraltar and regretted missing Barcelona out, I've been looking at what to see do etc and it looks great, my wife uses a wheelchair, which is why I was asking for sites with bus links not too far off the site, will have to check out the hop on hop off bus service, to see if their wheelchair friendly, because it would be an asset, thanks for the info

Great city and camping Barcelona at Mataro has free transportation included. Gaudi, Barcelonas favourite son was hit by a tram and killed there.
Phil
Bloody hell, better keep clear of the trams then, yes the place looks amazing, carnt wait to get away again

I visited that aire about 4 years ago the aire was actually on the football car park above the crypt and was primarily for coaches but motorhome parking was allowed and there was facilities for water and grey waste disposable.
As with a lot of Aires these days there were one or two "camping" and I suspect the local authority decided enough was enough.
I was going to use the aire the following year but it had been closed to motorhomes.

We used the aire there in March 2018. Shame if closed as it was nice to walk around the purpose built village and to see the crypt. Easy walk to train station for Barcelona.

I have used this aire on a number of occasions and would definitely recommend it.

Safe parking and regular train service, 5 mins walk to station for Barcelona
