Attached is an excerpt from my local councillor's newsletter.....

"2. Baltic Wharf Caravan Park rumours

Rumours have been circulating about the plans for the Baltic Wharf Caravan Site after a new lease was given to the operation, despite the Council's plans to use the site as a primary school.

Mark has been following this up with officers in the Council's property department. Whilst plans for the new school are being finalised, the Council has offered the site a further one year lease, at their request, rather than see the site be left vacant. Mark and I are optimistic that this extra year will give the Council a greater chance of finding a suitable alternative location for the caravan site, and we have been assured by officers that they are affording this a high degree of priority."

So the caravan club have won a year long reprieve :BigGrin::BigGrin::BigGrin::BigGrin:

Obviously didn't want the vacant site occupied by travellers! Good news tho'.

Great news, have never been, but always wanted to!

Well done Jane & Co. I wrote to Old Red Legs - George Ferguson, the Mayor, as I once spent an evening in his company at a conference in Glasgow, and reminded him of it. Since we all had too much to drink perhaps he feared I would tell other people. He's actually a good guy!

Woohoo that's great news:cheers::clap2:

We're going in December think it would be a sad farewell. Great news well done everyone.

Now all we need is to be able to secure a pitch ahead of the net stalking 'no shows' who book in advance,the moment the site is open.

That's good news! Haven't actually stayed there because we live locally, but pleased to hear the CC have secured at least one more year. Hopefully, a suitable solution will emerge for the future, but I'm not holding my breath...

Caravan Club seems in denial of this as far as I'm concerned. Which I guess is not conclusive one way or the other :-(

Almost always impossible to get into, much like York, so even if it was to go (which I think it will in the end) it won't be missed if you know what I mean! ;)

:clap2:Well done, just got to try and get a booking now next year :clap2:

First mention of any extension on the CC's own forum was half an hour ago when a subscriber asked if what he had read elsewhere was true. No information from the CC as yet.

We spent my birthday there in May and have booked a week in December. There were always dates available if you book early enough.

The best site in the country, in our opinion.
