I've been looking for a replacement mppt solar controller to replace the Truma PWM unit in my Autograph 79-4. However, I'm finding it difficult to source a Dual Battery model.

Has anyone on here actually replaced their's?

Or can anyone tell be of a suitable make/model.

I also have a Photonic Universe LCD Meter (PUDB-RM) unit which connects to the Truma via what looks like a RJ45 (network) connector. This shows me the voltages of the two batteries and the voltage coming from the Solar panel. Is this compatible with other makes?

Thanks in advance.

I have the same controller and meter as you. It is an RJ45 lead.
I also was looking for a dual battery MPPT controller without success, but as this PMW one seems to be working fine I shan't bother.

I'm told an MPPT unit can provide up to 30% more charge to the batteries. Mine seems to struggle to top up the batteries on anything but the sunniest days.

a new controller can give you 30% an extra panel if you have the room for probably similar price will give much more

An MPPT controller can provide more charge when the sun is weak. Depends on your power usage. Mine is quite low as I have decided not to fit an inverter in the MH and don't watch TV so its really just lights etc plus a bit of phone charging which uses very little. My batteries are usually fully charged before lunch even in Mar/April.

I've found a couple of controllers that "might" fit the bill. A bit more research is needed.

EPever DuoRacer (20A) Dual Battery 12v/24v MPPT Charge Controller
Item Number: DR2210N_DDS
Your Price: £91.56

EPever DuoRacer (10A) Dual Battery 12v/24v MPPT Charge Controller
Item Number: DR1206N_DDS
Your Price: £71.49

There seems to be a big difference between the cost of a new mppt controller and an extra Solar panel and I could easily fit the controller myself but don't really fancy taking on the installation of a new panel although I have considered it.

I found these possible contenders online:

EPever DuoRacer (20A) Dual Battery 12v/24v MPPT Charge Controller
Item Number: DR2210N_DDS
Your Price: £91.56

EPever DuoRacer (10A) Dual Battery 12v/24v MPPT Charge Controller
Item Number: DR1206N_DDS
Your Price: £71.49

If you cannot source a dual battery MPPT regulator could you not get a single battery one and fit a Battery master to keep the van battery topped up.

I'll look into that option.
