Duaghter's van, dad's help
My daughter and boyfriend recently had their motorhome towed away after parking for two hours in a restricted zone in Baden-Baden. A local tow company had taken it to their compound 10km away. Totally accepting culpability, on collection the same afternoon they had to pay a 35 Euros fine plus the initial demand for release at 1300 Euros! The kind company owner suggested a reduction for cash to 800 Euros. despite desperate unsuccessful attempts to get the cash on a Sunday, he relented and took payment on a debit card. It would appear there is no limited to what can be charged.
Such a shame for the pair. 18years old, their first touring trip abroard in an LDV convoy that they converted themselves.

Jeez! Will let my Grandson know so that he doesn’t make the same mistake!

Would they be parked in a umwelt zone, it's easy to drive past the signs.
Tell them to get a sticker, they don't want it to happen again. Bob.

You do not get towed for parking in an Umwelt zone. It is only a relatively small fine, if you even get spotted.
I almost regret paying over €1000 six years ago to upgrade to the green sticker. We do not go into these zones very often and I could have paid a lot of those small fines with €1000 ;-)

I’m surprised that a vehicle that contains gas was removed. I thought this wasn’t allowed in the uk.

A harsh lesson learned, I feel for them
Is it worth checking with local authorities if there are any controls or limits on charges these parasites can claim.
Charges should be proportionate with cost

No, for a particle filter.
I bought a 2002 Eura Mobil with a yellow sticker. The government was subsidising anyone who fitted the filter, but the subsidy was about to end so I went for it.
