Show was pants

Two complaints ref the Stratford Show. We were passing on our way south from Yorkshire on Saturday (in the car) so popped into the show for 2 reasons::

1 to purchase some bits etc and see whats new.

2. to visit your rally site and say Hello!!

The Show was to be frank pretty rubbish with few trade stalls and mostly second hand vehicles. I wanted to visit Road Pro amongst others but they were a "No Show". So with the entry fee of £15 for the two of us it wasn't cheap and with Ice cream at £1.70 (I didn't purchase any but was speaking to another visitor) all a bit off a rip off.

Drove over to your site but loo and behold bar for a few children playing no one to be seen so you must have all been out enjoying yourselves!! and why not but wasn't it hot on Saturday!!

We will be giving the shows a wide berth from now on I'm afraid if that is the standard etc. and will be mailing the organisers to make my points known. Glad you all enjoyed yourselves :thumb:

GEOFF You are dead right about the show but do remember this before giving the shows a wide berth.
1) yes the show is cack but I was still able to buy 2 bounce back cushions, see a few motorhomes and buy 1 or 2 other bits.

2) the point is that the show is in Stratford. I can park in the show, with friends, walk in to one of Englands finest towns have evening entertainment inclusive of fire works, educate the kids on the art of socialising, eat BBQ food, Eat other peoples food, and most of all just have a cracking good time.

What's the cost of the above? less than a tenner a night, its hard to find that on any site. :thumb:

So if you look at the bigger picture, the shows are a great cheap way of camping.

ps sorry we missed you.

Agree completely that the show was very poor this year, in fact the poorest we have ever been to.

Surprised you didnt bump into a few adults at the motorhomefun area because we wouldnt leave the children unattended. When it got too hot some retreated under canopies and others went inside their vans but many were out and about too.

Dont let it put you off. We go to the shows to camp with the funsters and meet friends new and old and always have a great time. Shame you didnt camp with us the fireworks display saturday night was good.

Why not think about coming to the Peterborough show next year which is a good one. Im sure others can recommend different shows they have really enjoyed.

Take care xxx dont let one experience put you off xxxx

i did,nt know what to exspect as being a newbie, and folks thought the show rubbish,I went to the Newbury show, and was hoping it would be the same, but hi ho. it was great meeting some great people at the show, and will certainly be going again, Thanks to Ash for having a look at my fridge (which did,nt seem to like the show either ) look foreward to the next meet, I respect that everyone has different ideas of a show, it would be great if there was a list of shows, which funsters enjoyed the most, Thanks again everybody, for the great hopitality

As mentioned in my earlier post we thought the show ok though to be fair it was our first and have nothing to measure it against. As to the price, £7.50 for a day pass, didn't think that was too bad but I'm used to being ripped off at car and motorsport events where you can't buy a tea & burger for that amount. For us arriving Friday, 2 nights camping and unlimited show access for £30 we felt that was good value.

Not trying to go OT but what are the Northern show and the Malvern show like as comparison?

will be my first time at the Northern show, but the Malvern show is a heck of a lot bigger with far far more stalls..... a lot of them country and western based. The entertainment at Malvern is far larger scale too ... didn't look at the Stratford entertainment ... it was adequate enough to stay on the site with the Funsters and in the day to spend it in Stratford with friends from the Funsters.

Hope this helps a bit.

Back in Bath after a superb time at the Stratford Show.

Went via the motor museum in Bourton on the Water... highly recommended.

Thank you to Bryan and Suzy for all your work marshalling...

There were not many dealers (thank goodness, I saved a fortune) but there were so few "punters" you were able to browse what there was on offer without fighting the hoard.

I will definitely be back next year if in the country

I was nearly the last van on the site but beaten by Bob and Jane

Lies! All lies... any photos involving the "C" word are FAKE... (Photoshop probably) If you publish those, I will post the one with the hoard of girls at my door in the morning trying to get a glimpse of me in my Jim Jams...

JJ

PS the ice footballs are brilliant!!! Thank you again...
