Not wishing to be contentious but if it is windy enough to need tie-down straps then wouldn't it be best to wind in the awning to avoid damage?
Could you thread some small tie wraps through the buckles to make them more secure.

I gave up with clips. 2 sturdy ratchet straps and a pair of 300mm pegs. Job done never and more problems.

We go for simplicity and as little paraphernalia as possible as we tend to move on most days so, no, we would rather wind in the awning than mess about with tie-downs but each to his own.So you would advocate never fitting tie downs? Really!![]()
No, as they are slide in clips not buckles!![]()
