My Fiamma awning on my 2011 Burstner (so 10 years old now) has a tear at the very front of it on drivers end of the van. Its about 6inch (pardon the pun) where it meets the metal bracket.

When I bought it I asked the dealer to sort it. This was done with some silver tape that lasted about an hour. I asked Regal furnishings if they could sort it when I had the upholstery done and they said no its not there field.

Anyone done a repair or know how to or where to go for a repair? (i'm Chesterfield)

Thanks

This shows how to replace the fabric on the awning.

I would imagine the tricky part is getting the new material on the roller!
The replacement fabric prices are a bit eyewatering too!

Duxdelux had his repaired last year after it got caught on the wind he was happy with the repair

There are quite a few HGV "sheet repair" companies out there that repair curtain side lorries. Straight cut along the awning and seam and stitch back together, or add a new bead along the bottom to fit into the front rail

We have the fabric. Almost new. Yours for collection if it's any use to you. N Shropshire

All great replies thanks.

The idea of cutting and re attaching to the front is a cracking idea as I’d only lose a few inch and it would be like new.

I’ll do some work into this idea

Thanks all

Sail maker?
Yes. I used to have a sailmaking business and we did numerous tent and awning repairs. They won't thank you for taking the whole lot in so make sure you take it off the drum first and just remember that it's really a two man job. The other thing is that if you decide to have a replacement made as it's 10 years old the proper Sunbrella fabric IS eye wateringly expensive.

Try Mend-a-Tent at Stafford. They've been repairing altering and making awnings etc. for 30 years. Brilliant service when ee used them many years ago and seem able to tackle any job at all no matter how complicated.

There is a rip stop material you can buy in all colours.
ebay could even have some.

used To repair boat sails used it a few times when on very long haul trips.
does the job and is strong .

use some either side and you should still get good use from it.

the other option is to renew the whole material.

T Rex repair tape from Screwfix. It’s about £7.50 for 8m. Magic stuff, used it on our 40 year old trailer tent to fix a shredded seam, lasted for 4 years and the seam was under constant stress when the tent was erected. Added bonus, it’s almost invisible when applied.

Cheers!

Give Rose awnings a call . Bournemouth are I think .

I have had repairs to mine done by local shop awning supplier / manufacturer. Very reasonable prices. I obviously had to remove the awning myself and ger it to him. So check your local yell dot com or Google 'near to me' for shop awning supply, repair etc

We had a small tear in our awning when got our moho, I used clear gorilla tape on both sides, now perfect 👌

Any sail maker should be able to repair it.

We used a clear tape called GUM to repair our tear. It’s incredibly adhesive and was specifically recommended for awnings etc. still good after 6 months.

Ditto the above mentioned, but before that I used duck tape quite successfully, I never trusted much more than a breeze however when it was fully out, I also found that keeping the off side leg to the tear was better slightly shorter, this had any rain flowing away from the repair.

Stormsure flexible repair glue is really great stuff, it's like welding the fabric! I used to use it to repair my horse's turnout rugs.

I've just checked and they also do an awning repair kit with clear patches. 😊

Hi, just read your old post and wondered if you managed to repair it by cutting the canvas back slightly.

The same has happened to my fiamma F45s awning . It's ripped on the left hand side just behind the lead bar and where the left leg is attached. Looks like I would only need a cut about 5cm off the canvas to remove the ripped canvas.

How did you manage to repair yours, did you cut it back ? or did you end up using repair tape which I have tried and it didn't hold it and ended up ripping further.

Hope you have a solution to the problem

Rachel
