just putting tv back in van after 9 months of just being in the box, set it up, switched it on and nothing, does not light up, have tried in van Nd in house in electric, have looked T switched at top and on back, all looks okay, just not coming on, has anyone any thoughts as to what it can be, just over 2 years old. It did work before we stopped using it.

Have you tried it with the 12v charging lead and the 240 lead ?

You might try phoning Avtex themselves. They have good customer service

Yes tried both leads
Stored in spare bedroom in avtex box.
Will call them, anyone have number to hand?

They fixed mine even though it was technically out of warranty

OK, thought maybe stored in garage or shed.
I lost a cheap 16" TV, 25amp charger and CB radio to damp induced corrosion after storing in my garage for a couple of years.

Have you made sure the main switch the round button on the side left side as you look at the screen bottom corner is on I made this mistake thought mine was broken then found this on off switch why it needs two power buttons is beyond me

We have. Switch underneath in the middle and one at the top, have tried both these.

When mains plug is plugged in which drops it to 12 volts
Ights up but goes off when plugged into 4 pin socket on tv, and nothing......

Avrex are really good at making their bloody tellies last two years one day.
Expect a bill of about £150 ....
And all that is wrong is a two bob component on the power supply board

Buy a Chello, I was told to do just that when my Avtex went wrong and was months out of warenty, I reckon tv's are sold with a replacement only as repairing them is either a 'can't do' or 'wont do' so I bought a cello for under £100 two years later it gave up, lasted six months longer than the Avtex which cost twice as much, current Chello is going strong after two years.Good luck, I now prefer radio 4extra!

I think it’s a protection diode that fails. Samsung TVs do it also. So many just bin them simply because we live in a throw away world but they can be repaired very cheaply indeed. A typical protection diode costs pence.

I also think it’s something simple but where can I get it done cheaply, worcester area

A lot of the cheaper 12v TV "s don't have a fuse inside that can be changed-if you crosswire by mistake its scrap!

Ring avtex.... mine had come with the van and when I had a problem they couldn’t have been more helpful. I had no paperwork or proof of purchase and I guess it was 2-3 years old. Collected next day FOC and returned 2 days later. No charge.

Proly a 1n4001 coupled to a fuseable link..
Our last one the chopper I C had died in the psu.. surface mounted AND the number had been scoured off.. Which usually indicates a common failure that is a nice little earner for them

Have you put the switch on so red light appears

Yep, done all that.
have now sent back to Avtex, awaiting outcome, may end up with a new one .......

Would have cost about 80 pounds to mend, inc return postage then found out it was about 6 years old so wouldn’t work with satellite without buying another box, so decided to get new one, 60.00 given towards new one delivered next day. All is well again.

We have a 10yr old 19" Avtex yes it cost more than all those cheapies but have to say it's still going strong after being bumped around in 3 different motorhomes over 1000,s of miles.
Well pleased with the product.

Really pleased tinkerbell that your tv problem is sorted out, I'm really impressed with Kelsel Electrics and Avtex too, Happy Travels.:clap2:

I could have had it back working but it would have cost, and thought may as well put towards new one than have a 6+ old tv back and have to spend more on a box to use with satellite, made more sense to put towards new tv, so new tv half the price if you say it quick. Avtex are quick, but we’re helpful.
