Hi mike, thanks for the offer but I’m really wanting an avtex as I know it works ok on satellite
The tv we have doesn’t work with it, took it into the dealer thinking the satellite might be faulty and they tried it with their avtex and it’s great, they tell me they are the best make
Cheers

avtex tvs are expensive for not great quality. finding one with the dvd working after a year is a rarity. aldi do a 12v combo tv with satellite about twice a year. works great with 3 year warranty as well for not much more than second hand avtex money. cello are also ok

Cheers for info, will keep a look out for Aldi offer.
First time I’ve heard anything negative about avtex but seen a lot of poor reports on cello and their price probably reflects that

Hi Drifter
I've got an 18.5" Avtex model L185DR tv/DVD combo with a sky pace box and remotes.
Took it off my last van a couple of months ago.
£60 If want it.
Cheers

That sounds good, is it separate sky box, not built in? I assume all good working order and just link to dish and it’s 12v

John Lewis always give a 2 years warranty but only 1 year on the DVD shows how good they are

We got a five year warranty on the Toshiba we got from JL, what gets a one year deal?. The satellite won’t work with it hence needing another

Why is it every time I decide, right that’s the way to go, some information pops up to say, oh no it isn’t? ?
It might come down to carrying two tv and just using avtex for satellite when required

Yep sky box is separate not built in (With the 'magic' eye for remote control)
Working good when I took it off and all on 12v,

Will be at Upton Blues, Newbury Retro or Old Bush Blues if you want a peep

I’m a bit up the road from you, think it will need posting or the funster express if anyone heading north. We are taking MH out this weekend but heading up the way

I'm new to this 'for sale' bit Drifter.
Not too sure re postage costings
I'll have a peep in the morning

our Avtex tv is 3 years old and the dvd still works. We used it all the time for the first couple of years.
They probably pack up early if you don’t use them much!

The DVD in our Avtex 163 still works fine...not for sale. . I can offer funster courier services from Leeds area to Glasgow if that's any help in your quest.

I’m not very much help either, I believe Hermes do a decent service and price. There was another one mentioned on a thread recently like parcels2go or something, I think they might collect from the house but not sure
I’m sure some clever folk will pop in to help soon.... cheers

Might need a rethink Drifter.
Royal mail is looking at £15 - £20 !

Just had a quick peep. Looks a better price.
Will try and get a firmer costing tomorrow/Sat

You say your tv will not work with satellite but the Avtex with built in receiver will. Have you tried your tv with a separate receiver e.g. Sky box or similar.

No, but having a 12v telly at cheap money offers more flexibility for being off grid, quietly looking for a sky box. As is the norm, I’ve thrown loads away over the years too
