We have an Avtex TV and Avtex soundbar. Yes expensive but I have some hearing issues particularly with the spoken word on TV and the combination has been very good. Now I have a problem in that we can get sound from the TV but not through the soundbar. I have checked and double checked all the cables, turned it on and off, read all previous posts and done the trawl through Google but still no joy. It had been working and I have played a wired I pod through it since and also used wired headphones from the TV. May be a coincidence but since then the TV combination hasn’t worked.
when I have the HDMI CEC setting on I get no sound at all as if the soundbar is blocking it. i have read something about making sure the audio is set to PCM but have no setting option for that anyway. I am at a total loss as to if it’s the bar itself or a setting I’ve got wrong. Any help/ suggestions gratefully receive. Thanks

It will be a setting in the TV. I had a similar issue recently but ours is a Samsung with Avtex sound bar. I also seem to remember it was PCM

Go through the RV settings and look for the audio settings and also the HDMI settings.

Also, double check your HDMI cable is connected and working. Sintetines the cable may break due to being wiggles about too much - I had that problem too

Finally cintact avtex. They should sort you out for sure

HDMI CEC settings need to be on and ARC on also. Then from memory go to the Sound menu on the TV and about two thirds down the SPDIF setting. It has options of off/PCM and AUTO. Sound should work on PCM or AUTO. Hope this helps.

Not accidentally hit the mute button.

Not sure which Avtex TV model you have but on some models you can set PCM under the SPDIF Mode setting.
Also, might be worth toggling the Headphone setting if you've been using that connection.

Thanks for all those suggestions. Just out for a while now but will have a go at them all when I get back.

I had exactly the same problem last year. After doing all of the above checks I tried a different HDMI lead borrowed from my nephew and it still did not work.

I contacted Avtex who paid for me to send both items to them and they diagnosed a dodgy lead and returned them with a lead of their own - no charge.

Last time I tried to use the TV & Soundbar (December 2021) I had no sound again although the sound bar still switched on with the TV. I borrowed an alternative lead from my nephew when I got home and it worked immediately, so obviously one of the wires in the original lead had broken again.

My TV & Soundbar are permanently joined and the cause may well have been that when I put the units back in the case I left the HDMI cable in place at both ends and the lid must have put pressure on the plug where it sticks straight up out of the back of the sound bar (it did look slightly angled when I opened the case). So lesson learnt:- always unplug all off the cables when packing it away.

Hope this helps.

Sorry I should have updated this with the solution to getting mine to work. I tried everything myself suggestions from here and from any web page that was relevant. Eventually phoned Avtex. I went through it all with one of their engineers. He was convinced I had a faulty lead but as I explained I had tried it with other HDMI leads which I knew were working. He went through a reset with me but no different. After 40 mins we were no nearer other than him saying it’s something wrong with my setup. I couldn’t convince him that it had gone off suddenly. Unfortunately as we are in Spain he decided it was to do with the internet here, again I told him it had gone wrong in UK. Anyway he put me on hold and eventually came back and asked my for the date etc on the reset screen. Told him, he suggested I needed a software update. Apparently for this you need model number off box or back of TV. Couldn’t see a bar code with this on anywhere at back of TV can only think it is under the TV fixing bracket. Anyway he supplied me with a suitable number relevant to the age of my TV, 2018 and told me how to download an update onto a memory stick. Fortunately my old PC has a USB port so I could download the update from their website then install on TV. He left me with that possibie solution and to get back if it didn’t work.
I wasn’t convinced but followed all the instructions and Bingo!!!! Success. So eventually Thank You Avtex but I don’t think even he was convinced it would work.
Hope this long winded account of mine helps someone.

I was so lucky that firstly I had my old lap top with me that had a USB port & also that I found an emptyish stick to copy from. Glad you have sorted it. The sound is so much better with the soundbar
