What are Autocruise like as a maker, quality and reliability like ..?

especially the starblazer..?

thanks 👍🏼

We’ve had one but the Gleneagle... it’s been amazing in 6 years and a lot of use including 2 six week European trips we have had no issues at all!! The interior too has been so practical and confortable. Well built, warm when required, spacious and quite luxurious. Happy To answer any other questions..

We had an Autocruise Accent panel van conversion, us 2 and 3 dogs; it was very well built, no issues at all with the quality of the materials used (as opposed to the Chausson we had which was like cardboard comparison).

We owned several Autocruise models and our last one was also a Gleneagle. One of our best vans out of 13 owned. We then went to the Bentley vans built by the same team.
Some Autocruise models have suffered very badly with water ingress through the locker seals.
Have a good dampcheck done before buying.
Good luck.

Check the walls and floor inside the side lockers at floor level because water tracks in along the side skirt screws and causes dampy dampy.
If the wall feels spongy it's because it's damp. The floor will be worse.

Alan's mum and dad have owned one for 13ish years, no major problems except the fridge packed in but that could happen to anyone.

I had a Stardream, and I didn’t rate it. Apart from the absurd name, the storage was poorly thought out and then the floor got damp. The damp I can forgive it, but the storage drove me loopy!

We were the happy owners of a Wentworth. Had no problems at all and only changed it due to having to make the bed up every night. Now have an Autotrail Savannah with twin singles at back.

notorious for damp issues and in some cases poor build quality. So be very fussy about checking it out thoroughly before buying. If you are used to hymer quality, it will feel a step down

Had a Startrail which was built after autocruise was taken over by Swift (enough said). Damp problems with lockers and overcab storage, cold cab and a wonderful ventilation system that vented freezing air onto one's tootsies when in the lounge. A 3 season van.

Had a couple including Starblazer. Liked design but watch out for low level damp around floor and wall junction

We have a 09 Startrail. Some damp issues around the lockers and rear quarters, fortunately addressed by the lovely people at Elite Motorhomes under a dealer warranty. Otherwise five years of very satisfied ownership, with some mods to make it a little more practical - solar, GasLow and a remap. Only looking to possible change it because we would like something a little shorter with maybe a similar layout if possible.

We own an Autocruise Starspirit 2005 which we bought in 2009 with 21,000 miles on the clock. The van has now done 110,000 miles as it was our only vehicle for 10 years.
We have it fully serviced every year, it has the 2.8 Hdi engine. We have adapted it for disability as my wife has MS.
It now requires some welding to the front chassis but has always passed it's MOT. The build quality is excellent. Never had damp problems. We hope to keep it for many more years.

We currently have a Stardream with 18k on the clock. Build quality seeme ok, its our first MH don't have much to compare it with. So far most of ours issues were due to previous owners poor diy attempts and upkeep. No damp problems but storage isn't great as the external lockers are small. Would like something with a garage next time. Added an inverter, remap, gaslow and more solar. Maybe we'll get to use it one day.

Our second van was a Starfire, we liked the layout and It seemed a pretty good van although it had been cut about a bit to accommodate a lift into passenger seat and holes cut-unobtrusively for Oxygen equipment. All round a good van, fair quality.

We bought a new Augusta in 2010 and happily kept it for 6+ years.

It was a great moho and very few problems.

In fact although we like our current van we would not have changed had circumstances been different.

We had a 2010 (made by Swift) Stardream, Alko chassis and end lounge. Loved the van, quite narrow and handled well. But.....it had a long wheel base, lost the fresh water tank three times, the kitchen plumbing shook itself to bits and the wrong Sargent unit was fitted. Sold it after two years and 20+I miles. Design good, poorly manufactured.

Hi All, looking at the Autocruise Starfire or on of the others, only me and Dylan the Dog, never owned a MH before but these seem small enough to use day in day out. Any hints or suggestions very welcome please.
Thankyou

Hi All
Looking for my 1st MH and I like the look of the Autocruise Starfire as well as the others in that group, would a 1.9 Diesel be enough, can't afford masses and I know you get what you pay for, was looking at about 15k .
Any guidance appreciated.
