Hi, never used these before (used LeClerc, super u, interwar he etc). Is it worth a stop off on N10 to see?
Ta.

Not as a destination.

Casino/Geant Casino seems to gave been divvied up between Intermarche and Auchan over the past two years. As a consequence there are a lot more Auchans around. Some of the Casinos had become a bit tired and so if Auchun invest in them they might become good stores again.

We find Auchan quite expensive - but they often are huge! Depends what you’d like to see

We are all different, as are stores even under the same branding. I've always been quite happy to shop in any of those supermarkets but the Auchan Hypermarksts leave the Carrefour ones standing albeit the Hyper-U run them a close second. It really depends why you are looking for, if just food, there is not much between them, but if you are looking for a destination hypermarket. Auchan is fine.

I should just declare a slight conflict of interest here. Some years back while working for a British hypermarket group, we had a good few shared meetings with Auchan, Esselunga, and a couple of other European and a US large store group on points of common interest..

You stay in the car park?
Yes we have stayed overnight in the car park since 2018ish when the gendarmes moved everyone from the Cite Europe carpark, because they could not guarantee our safety from the migrants

I stayed in Auchen Boulogne carpark overnight last year. Peaceful night.
Went into the hypermarket in the morning, found it to be massive and over whelming.

We like Auchan, the hypermarkets have huge choice, the quality is good and the prices are good. It's our supermarket of choice. (y)

Mmmm, dunno. They still insist on trading in Russia & in 2023 supplied the Russian military - they said it was 'humanitarian aid' but the pallets were full of mens sock, razors, cigarettes, lighters & toothpaste, nothing for women or children.

There are 10 legal entities knowns as Passazhiravtotrans, part of St Peterburg's committee on transportation and when asked were very open in saying that the pallets were for at least one Battalion. Apparently they have also aided in Russian military recruitment by assisting to combat those trying to avoid the Russian draft. If Auchan the elligible Auchan staff refused, they were sacked and you can guess where they ended up!!
There's big investigation still ongoing which was triggered by The Insider & Le Monde.

Leroy Merlin is another.

Well that's enough for me to never shop there.

Auchan was a very good operation in the past until the Founder died, he was involved with the company on a Day to Day basis till the end. Since the ‘Family’ have control it has gone downhill.

Stick to ‘Le Clerc’ which still have principals - no Sunday/Holiday opening - and generally better stocked and quality.
