I added a LED light bar to the rear last winter. I took a feed off the reverse light wire that goes to the tow hitch electrics. A standard fit to Mercedes but Morelo charge for it if you inadvertently order it!
I wired it to a 24vdc relay which in turn fed the bar. At the time of fitting the dash board display did not show any issues. Now after the new CAN bus modules it is showing a reverse light issue on the dash, easily cleared but why now. I disconnected the feed to the relay but there is still about a couple of metres of thin wire up to the relay position that is soldered into the vehicle loom. All the reverse lights and the bar work fine and the Mercedes engineer was not concerned.
What's your assessment of the problem and how can I relieve it? I assume for some reason the CAN bus is seeing the resistance of the cable?
