They tend to go up if a contract ends but not sure about payg

Only use it in a second phone, so when the credit runs out I shan't fill it up again, I would say they actually don't want pay and go anymore.

Pay as you go seem to be ending. My wife tops up about £10 a year on three. They recently put it up to 35p a minute for calls !!!
She has ditched that and gone with 1p mobile. With that it needs a top up if £10 every 4 months, so £30 a year. The credit rolls over so is not lost.

This is a bit of a bugger “Our European roaming cap for in-bundle usage is also reducing from 25GB to 5GB from this date (regardless of bundle allowance).”

Yeah it looks like they are priceing it out of the market for some reason.
No one is going to start a new contract at that.

PAYG is becoming a rarer and more expensive option as the suppliers look to "guarantee" their monthly revenue by pushing users to a fixed monthly fee of £xx. This is probably because it enables them to forward purchase airtime more cost effectively. It's also the expected norm for users just to pay this sum even if they don't use it.
A return of a few pennies a month for odd calls \ texts is more of a hassle than it's worth.

The second sims in our dual sim mobiles are PAYG and only used for "emergency" calls where mobile signal is patchy, eg North \ West Scotland. We just phone home (less than one minute) and tell the weans to call us back on our PAYG sims from their contract sims!:whistle2:

Last August (prior to the 25th) I spoke to Three which we both have contracts with. I thought our contracts expired in November. They did but 2020. Basically I want to sort out two things. Roaming charges/data capping and challenging them on what I was told in 2016 that roaming charges would not apply to Three because their parent company Hutchinson Telecom was based in China so EU roaming will not affect them. I was told that there was going to be a fair usage policy of 20gb (I think) and a roaming passport charge on all new contracts after the 25th. After a fair bit of talking she told me that if we let our existing contracts run the new charges would not apply. I asked her for a transcript of the call which she sent straight away by email. Do not renew contracts without looking at the alternatives.

My Tesco Pay as you go has been brilliant. I don't use the phone much because Mrs as a contract phone with free calls, so we use that all the time. The last time I topped up my Tesco sim was at least three years ago.

I use Smarty on one of their old contracts comes out at a about 5.50 a month.

I used to have payg but on auto top up here in spain. i changed to Digi on contract as it was cheaper. I went for 3Gb data with 100minutes of calls for 3€ per month.
imagine my surprise when making & receiving calls in the Uk to both english mobiles & landlines & spanish mobiles to find that all are included. Just had second invoice today for mid july to mid august & itemises incoming & outgoing with no charges

Digi are a top company. Send all my reminders to top-up (5€ every 6 months) in English. Very easy to swap between tariffs.

I'd been paying Virgin Mobile 12 pounds a month for 10 Gb data and free calls texts.
Went on their website last night and same package is 7 pounds
Straight swop this morning (y)

We use 1p mobile. You have to top it up by £10 every 120 days so effectively it costs £30 per year. As the name suggests it's 1p per minute, 1p per text and 1p per MB data.
