Armistice day absences.

I've just watched the BBC news & they did a rather touching item on "The Unknown Soldier" followed by the minutes silence around the nation.
Whilst watching this report, it became obvious that this was the first report which I've seen for many months which didn't feature our ethnic cousins?
They were conspicuous by their absence.
The World Wars were fought pretty much everywhere & we all owe our freedom to those who fought or worked tirelessly to maintain our freedom, no matter which ethnicity they were.

Now I'm not racist & this posting isn't about BLM, Muslims or any other ethnic minority, its about the BBC who flood us with images of non white people, it's just that it'd become the norm to see very few white people on our "balanced" BBC.

Fully agree,,every advert,,play and film on the telly which our masters tell us reflects modern uk society are full of ethnics..Obviously our masters do not venture far.Where i live you would be lucky to see a black person or an Asian on any given day.We did have a Sikh chemist,,,lovely guy and i do have a Sikh dentist who i do not see very often but other than those two i have to travel to Derby to see ethnic diversity. BUSBY.

People from Asian ethnic groups made up the second largest percentage of the population (at 7.5%),
followed by Black ethnic groups (at 3.3%),

Mixed/Multiple ethnic groups (at 2.2%) and Other ethnic groups (at 1.0%)

So if one is to accurately reflect England/Wales* racial makeup - the overwhelming predominance would be white... any other image is biased & fake.

*I presume Scotland publishes it's own statistics somewhere

There was readings made three black and colored solders on the holder of a vc so not exactly true that they were conspicuous by there absence.
not a lover of the BBC but there coverage was compassionate and diverse from what i seen

Here in my village and in most of the nearby area it's quite unusual to see any persons of colour (are we allowed to use that term?). I've thought the same about the BBC and the adverts on commercial tv when upon seeing them I usually mutter to myself: Aha, there's the obligatory ethnic balance.
I had to venture North to Bradford for the first time a couple of years ago and was truly surprised at the unfamiliar and extraordinarily broad ethnic mix reflected in the population and especially in the interesting diversity of the specialist food shops and restos. I rather regret that there aren't some nearer my area where I could sample the offerings.

You've hit the nail on the head Jim. It strikes me that the various TV channels are playing the guilt trip on people who are not racist.
We watched a film with Will Smith the other night & all I saw was a world class actor who made me believe in the character he was portraying.

My dad received gunshot wounds in Malaya & he was rescued by Ghurkha's, then treated by an Indian doctor, my old dad would have throttled me if he'd heard me making a racist remark.
I really wish we could put this BLM nonsense behind us & keep making the progress which the UK has been world class leaders of. All lives matter (except wasps).
Racism is wrong, full stop.

Statics are not as simple as that.

Whilst around 15% of the English population is not white, in the cities, the percentage is far higher, indeed in certain areas of many cities the 15% figure would be for white people.

Filming of any event, by the BBC, or anyone else, is typically done in a city, or if not inside the city the filming is done by people based in a city.
Therefore it's not surprising that the racial make up the cast and crew is at city levels of diversity.

After all, how many TV or film studios are there based in villages miles from anywhere ?

I've seen the indent, to be honest I'd not made the connection until you pointed it out.

I guess for me living in a big multi-cultural city, the indent looks normal, however I appreciate for someone who lives in the remoter areas of the country, it may not look like the people who live in the houses around yours.

I grew up in London and have lived or worked in London most of my life in a multiracial and religious environment. I now live in a tiny village where my children have lived all there lives. one of my just teenage daughters had some of her friends round just before the first lockdown and I was surprised that there was a mixture of races due to where we live and my daughter had never giving any indication. When they left I asked my daughter if her friends ever had any racial problems or if it was ever spoken about. She was amazed I even noticed, they were her friends and that was all that mattered to each of them. Racism isn’t natural it is learnt and that goes for everyone of any colour or religion. I hope my daughters and her friends always think that way.
