Frankly I am suprised by the state of many moho roofs, some covered in green lichen & mould & other stuff. So all this stuff will be getting into the seals on a coachbuilt & degrading them. Often the sides and front & rear are clean but not the roof. Bird poo particularly is really corrosive & will degrade rubber quickly when mixed with rainwater.

Similarly some engine bays I have seen have a little garden growing in them, if I was buying secondhand I would discount anything that looked like it had suffered like this.

Luckily I can get some little steps into my moho & go through the main roof skylight with an extendable hose broom to clean right to the back of the van & through the sunroof to do the front. No need for wobbling on high ladders. Easy access roof & solar panel cleaning will be a "must have" for my next van!

I forgot to mention the underneath of the van, also regularly cleaned. Not with a jetwash, but with a hosepipe jet which is sufficient for most of my cleanings. The first place to check if you are buying a vehicle, there will be a story to tell under the body work! With Ducato's the front wheel arches hold mud & any road dirt underneath them, which then holds salt contamination against the bodywork at the top of them, so need regular thorough flushing.

Nobody sees the roof, unless they're nosey or extremely tall.
The only person seeing under the bonnet should be your mechanic....unless someones stealing parts. :giggle:
I share mechanicing between myself & my local disfunctional garage! But having been to Logans in Carluke, I will be going there for as much as possible. Definately a cam belt & water pump change.

I clean the roof regularly. Little and often is easier than letting it get filthy and then having to spend ages scrubbing.

As for the engine - no! A little grease and oil is good protection for all the metal bits and no one sees it.

Spotless. I polish under the bonnet & am ashamed at how badly they paint it.
Can i Park by you next time and you can demonstrate on mine how to do it

Get on the cross channel ferry nice and early and you can watch all the mucky roofs turning up

And of course being early nobody can see if ours is mucky or not

Yes when I wash the van I spend just as long pressure washing all the wheel arches & lips so that no dirt is left
Yes, but then only you and your family see it. :giggle:
It is bad enough seeing other roofs ,I certainly don't want to know mine might be like that but I am not seeing it.

Wet and forget for the roof, may also work on the engine bay.

Hubby decided the van needed a good clean before we set off (all over) sides roof underneath oh and yes under the bonnet. All chuffed he called me to have a look, "what do do you think" he said 🤷‍♀️ say no more :ROFLMAO:

The crap on the roof can still get washed of by the rain to a certain extent causing streaks down the sides so mine gets a wash a couple of times a year it doesn't take long and keeps it white to reflect the heat 🥵 I treat the engine bay and metal bits underneath with ACF50 mot guy always comments on how clean and rust free it is (10 years old).

Spotted this roof yesterday in a Tesco carpark in Nottingham 🙈 worst I have ever seen.

I doubt that- I have sprayed my engine compartment with Elbow Grease degreaser. To my surprise it worked really well shifting 23 years of grime.
Cheers, Dave

My roof is spotless .. washed and waxed regularly including the solar panel so no water lies on the roof .

Engine compartment also kept clean . Don't like messy engine bays.

Underneath is an ongoing project 🤣

I just looked up ACF50 as I have never heard of it before, I am guessing you are a biker? all the you tube videos seem to show it being used on Bikes, but I guess its just as good on cars, vans and MH's.
They show it being sprayed on with a trigger bottle, then brushed in with a small detail brush before eventually wiping off with towels etc....so having seen that method, I can now confirm you are an OCD engine bay cleaner, but I am sure it works and will look good if done regularly.(y)
I many years ago loved using Jizer, liberally brushed all over the engine and engine bay, then blasted off with a garden hose over an open manhole ;) It did a great job, but I couldn't use it nowadays with all the exposed cable looms and connectors all over the engine.

No not s biker but as you say it works on anything. It was developed for aviation. I just spray or brush it on and give it a wipe around no finesse involved as nobody is going to see it.

Another vote for ACF-50 used it for years on my motorbikes, twice a year keeps them in as new condition.

This is my 1978 Honda CB550/4.
