I understand water shortage is a serious issue especially given the current climate.
I fully understand hose pipe bans as and when needed
BUT what i dont get is very very low pressure
I came home to almost no water, I say almost because there was water but only just, afraid to shower through fear of it running out
(it never did)
I looked up Severn Trent water area by area for faults, and it seems at the minuet the whole country is on low pressure alternating days
I suspect there is a national plot to save water and they aint telling us
Fair enough you might say but not when you believe the fault lies with your boiler or some such device and you call out trades men for no reason
Man up tell us if were going to be rationed and when please

Nope. No funny business. I’m in the industry dealing with supply for water company and came into work today to 53 res that are in critical low states. As the local res to you could have dropped below a nominal level your supply could just be above the lowest limit to keep you in supply by gravity. It’s no fun today work.

There definitely isn't a national plot. However many water companies are experiencing extraordinary demand. This puts a strain on service reservoir levels/pumps and could be the reason your pressure is very low. I wouldn't stand for it though. Ring again and give them some stick

Surely if more people are using more water the pressure will drop, the pipe doesn’t get any bigger supplying us.

I'm in NG17 & not from you I think Geo. Parts of Sutton, Kirkby, Huthwaite & Hucknall had no supply at all the day before yesterday so were off 2 days and we had none most of yesterday. It came on sometime overnight. Don't think there was mention of low supply being the problem, just equipment failures & technical issues.

In the last few mins I've had another text from Severn Trent saying they are aware of low pressure problems so not sure if it's going to go off again. It's awful in this weather.

Lots of comments on FB about problems getting through to Severn trent & then they only repeat what's on their update page.
The local MP was also giving FB updates.

Think yourself lucky !

Our water comes in at 6B and we have had to fit pressure reducers to avoid having a shower when we turn any tap on !

......ah but we have that bloody big pond at Kielder so should never be short of water 😁😭

Good excuse not to wash the MH or the car.

We used to have that problem on a new house in Devon during the day 90-105 psi & overnight used to peak at 135psi.
After the winter and spring we had with almost continuous rain there can’t be a water shortage surely.

Richard
You wouldn't think so if they hadn't sold off many of the storage areas & resorvoirs.

My thoughts to, up until last week we have had horrendous rain fall, me thinks they are taking the pee.

We are very lucky here on Salisbury Plain we have plenty of water stored in the chalk aquifers can’t ever remember even a hosepipe ban😊

We are also Severn Trent in staffs, can't say I have noticed any difference.

That's partially true and is an engineering fact. However the issue will be hotspots in the system where the 20% increase in demand is causing local difficulties. I would guess that 99% of Severn tents customers will be completely unaffected.

My thoughts exactly.

First sign of sun.......hosepipe bans, scare stories, low pressure.
I think that is a bit of an exaggeration and no one is talking about hosepipe bans as far as I know. It's just a short dry spell which causes everyone to get their sprinklers out and in some areas this causes difficulties.
