What's the best app to show us Aires in France when we are touring it.
Currently we use park for night & search for sites.

Camper Contact
Camping-Car Aire
Caramaps

are all useful

Thanks all for the info , I'll give what I have a go then and if I think I'm missing something I'll pay for Camper Contact as well then , :)

Read the comments on the unofficial aires. Some areas are made popular on the app and the locals complain. Next minute the cops are there every morning dishing out fines. Happened to us.

What do you mean by "read the unofficial Aires" where do u read that.?
Also how can the cops issue fines if you are parked in an Aires ? I thought Aires were legally designated motorhome stop over sites ?
Or do you mean something along the lines of "some additional sites" get added to the app by Joe public , then before you know it everyone starts using said site and the locals get pissed off , then the cops come and issue fines?

All official aires are well signed and usually have water and black waste disposal , there are thousands in France so no need to use any unofficial aires or wild camping type lay-by's.

In France there are not many restrictions on parking overnight so long as you are just parking not causing an obstruction and not using it as a campsite. Problem is usually Spain/Portugal where the hoards gather usually near a beach and stop for weeks with no facilities.
Answer keep away from beaches and the hoards

In addition to 'aires de service' you will also come across 'aires de stationement', which are stopovers usually without any facilities and can have the following sign, just just somewhere to park up for the night (or day).

Yes, exactly that 👍

We mostly use Park4nites ,which is really good. Read the comments on the spot you want to stay at and weigh it up when you get to it. If it doesn’t feel right move to the next one.

Not only that if you click on itinerary it will bring up Google maps and you can look at the actual place on sattalite before you go.

I expect everyone else knows, but I have just discovered Google maps has the aires on it and will search for them, gives some details and will navigate you there.
