Just a tad..
Hello

Can anyone recommend me a Bluetooth plug that is app based? I just want a single application app, rather than smart home enabled or integrated to Alexa or Google etc, which just has a click on click off function on an IOS application…

Many thanks in advance

When you say "switch" Harvey are you referring to a 240v 3 pin plug type?
I am indeed yes. The application is to switch on and off the mains charger. It’s in the ‘utility’ cupboard in the garage and a pain to get to when the Motorscooter is in the way.

I’m getting so much solar now when on a site in Spain that I just don’t need the charger on, so I would like to remotely switch it. It is a big three channel 60A per channel concurrent charger though, so I am mindful of load.

I could of course pull the mains hook up, but that is used for the fridge and the induction ring, hence my idea for a remotely switched mains charger supply.

For plugin Alexa activated switches at home I use TP-Link Tapo smart plugs that you can buy for £11 each or £27 for 4 on Amazon. You can also operate them via a phone app.

Amazon product ASIN B07Z942YWS

On our van I use Sonoff Zigbee sensors and 12v switches via Alexa to tell me the fridge, freezer, external and internal temperatures and to switch on and off our tank heaters, I also have the window of our van protected with Zigbee sensors.
You can operate and setup routines and timers via the EweLink app.

Thanks for the detail reply. I have lots of ‘smart’ plugs at home, all linked through assistant and or app control, linked etc so I can say switch off all light etc and I could indeed use one of these. However, I specifically wanted to stay away from too smart a plug. I just wanted as dumb a remotely switched plug as I could get, with a dumb big red/green switch on a simple app…

Have you seen anything like this, it’s maybe earlier iteration products, before smart e became widely available. Maybe it’s also an unsupported app, as frankly there will be no dev or bug fixes as it will just work at this stage.

Anyway, I also happy to hear of other solutions to switching a mains charger on an off simply? Anyone any ideas?

Whilst not being app based, but how about a set of simple RF switched sockets, dirt cheap and normally pretty reliable.

Just bought the FIL a set for his bedside lamp from amazon and they even came pre programed and numbered so they really were 'plug n play'

Does it need to be wireless? If not a simple wired switch and relay would do what you want.

These perhaps……?

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions. Do these remote control switches work okay in a MH setting. The cupboard in the garage is through several walls in relation to the main habitation area, will these work okay do people think? Thanks in advance!

Well, they work thought out a house, and even used them from indoors to the garage and summerhouse before I went with my Tuya based one's.

The only issue I've ever had was one of my earlier sets I had would occasionally loose their programming to the remote and you had to reset them, but that's it really

For less than 15 quid from amazon give them a go and you can always return them

We used these for many a year before we went over to the WiFi app based plugin switches.
