Cornish tourist board said last night they are open for business as long as you stick to your tier 🤷‍♀️
didn’t think anything was open🤔

All the Cornish are standing on their side at Saltash blowing in unison.

The Tamar Bridge is closed

Those wishing to come down here will have go by alternative means (A30 A39)

You have been warned.

im sure plenty will be thinking on it.

We are due to go down to Cornwall next week for a 3 day break, this was booked a few months ago. But we are in tier 2 (East Cambs, one of the lowest areas in the country!!!) and so would be travelling into a lower tier area. Is this allowed? Hotel is open, but read a news report yesterday saying that the Devon & Cornwall police will have 10 teams/Cars out patrolling the roads looking for people that shouldn’t be travelling into a lower tier area, ie, into Cornwall.
on the Gov site, it’s just says that people in tier 3 shouldn’t travel outside their area.
seems to be yet another case of nobody actually knows what the exact rules are😡😡

"it’s just says that people in tier 3 shouldn’t travel outside their area."

Its the Law in Scotland
Its a recommendation in England

Read the rules for tier 2 you shouldn't stay overnight in tier1 and must follow rules for tier 2

They're only there to stop the scallies from Plymouth nipping over the Tamar to have a drink in Saltash.

Abbreviation of scallywag.

1. a person, typically a child, who behaves badly but in an amusingly mischievous rather than harmful way; a rascal.

Bailey 15 I take it you'll be walking across the bridge to avoid the 'Rozzers'

It says avoid overnight stays same as it said only essential travel during lockdown not taking your motorhome out fora run
Just looked at the government website. It says you can travel and stay overnight if going from 2 to 1 But not from 2 to 3, but must carry on with teir two restrictions if going from 2 to 1.
I'm of to Cornwall next week for five days. Booked into a CL, the owner said he is quite happy to see us. We are not planning to mix closely with locals and taking all provisions, which is a shame as we like to buy local.
We will keep ourselves to ourselves. just need to use the van and a change of scenery.

Nothing seemed open in summer never mind now.
We went to Padstow in August and to think that they’d just come out of four months of no tourists, the shops and most attractions were shut before 6pm. I think I’d be making hay whilst I could with it being such a short season this year.

  • Only says avoid travel to tier 3 if in a tier 1 follow rules for tier 2.
So you can go and stay in tier 1

organised indoor sport, physical activity and exercise classes will only be permitted if it is possible for people to avoid mixing with people they do not live with (or share a support bubble with). There are exceptions for indoor disability sport, sport for educational purposes and supervised sport and physical activity for under-18s, which can take place with larger groups mixing
  • you can continue to travel to venues or amenities which are open, but should aim to reduce the number of journeys you make where possible
  • if you live in a tier 2 area, you must continue to follow tier 2 rules when you travel to a tier 1 area. Avoid travel to or overnight stays in tier 3 areas other than where necessary, such as for work, education, youth services, to receive medical treatment, or because of caring responsibilities. You can travel through a tier 3 area as a part of a longer journey
  • for international travel see the Foreign,

Travelling out of a Tier 2 area
If you live in a Tier 2 area, you must continue to follow Tier 2 rules when you travel to a Tier 1 area.

However, avoid travel to or overnight stays in Tier 3 areas other than where necessary, such as:

  • for work
  • for education
  • to access voluntary, charitable or youth services
  • to visit your support bubble
  • to receive medical treatment
  • for moving home
  • because of caring responsibilities
You can travel through a Tier 3 area as a part of a longer journey.

For international travel see the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office Travel Advice for your destination and the travel corridors list.

When travelling, it is important that you respect the rules in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and do not travel to different parts of the UK where their intended activities there would be prohibited by legislation passed by the relevant devolved administration.

Rozzers! That's a word I have not heard for many a year, must be 50 + years ago since I heard the reference to police being called rozzers. Any idea where the term came from?

Yes we do!

You can travel to Cornwall and you can stay overnight

You just have to adhere to tier two rules still whilst in tier one!

It's not local to Plymouth, (and that's why I used it!)

There is guidance on what to do if you’ve booked holiday accommodation in a local restriction area.
