I've been slowly narrowing down my search for what I think would be my perfect ! Motorhome. Here is my top 4. If anyone can offer any advise or even as one of the following for sale then please post.
1. Hymer b-class supreme line 674 or 704
2. Carthago c-line I 4.9 LE Superior
3. Frankia f-line I 740 good

Both Carthago and Frankia are built to a much better standard than the Hymer. Carthago probably the best but we find there lounges a bit cramped.
And if you hadn't noticed I'm a Hymer owner.

Are you saying consider the flair or your selling a flair ?

I really meant consider the flair----------- we have to sell ours but it is probably older than you are looking for????!!!!!!!
We couldn't comment on the newer ones but we are sooo happy with ours and are gutted to have to sell it!!!! It took a long time to find it!!!!

We have a Frankia i740 Plus (not for sale). This is our 4th van and in our opinion the best. Happy to answer any questions or, as you're just up the road from us, happy to show you round ours.

Hi. That would be great if I could meet up have a chat and a look round your MH. I work in Burton so pass most days. Is the Plus R/Lounge ? As that is another I have considered. Thanks Lee

We've got an A class Hymer star line b674. Which we love and is very comfortable. May be forced to sell when Glenn's licence comes up for renewal in April. :(

Hi Lee - sending you a PM with phone number and address.

Just a note to add. My reason for picking out the four in question. Is large payload to carry a motorbike, single beds, and A class. I love the rear lounge aswell if the garage can accommodate a vespa. Thanks all.

Hi. It is one I have considered. What year is it ? What is the max weight? And payload ?
We've had it up rated to 4.8 with air suspension. I'm not certain of the payload but think it's around 750. It has a lot of extras on it eg massive battery and inverter. It's 2013 registered 2014

Cake and eat it mate, the only way to get a decent garage and a rear lounge is get a really high one like a Phoenix

You can add the Hymer B678 to your list. Our 2015 model has twin singles over a garage rated to 450kg. Plus drop down double bed at the front. On the Alko Maxi chassis with GVW of 4500kg.

I've already worked out it's one or the other!. But the option of rear lounge on the size (I'm looking for) may give the option of vespa on a rack/towbar? And still be in the given weights. Then I'll have room for my cake in the garage !

Don't hold your breath for it. There are some A classes with a rear lounge but they are almost as rare as rocking horse poo. That is because the need for a rear lounge is a peculiarity (no offence meant) of UK motorhomers. They are not at all popular in the rest of Europe, which is, of course, a much larger market than just the UK. And you will really need to get a European made motorhome if you want an A class. By the way we can relax with our feet up in the front "Eurolounge" in our Hymer B678 without any problems. After all the only seats that have decent headrests and can recline in any motorhome are the driving seats and we can swivel those around.

As for putting your Vespa on a rack or towbar that will be difficult for two reasons. Firstly finding a rack or towbar that has the weight capacity, and if you do it will be a hefty item that will add more weight onto the rear axle. And secondly because your scooter will be even further back from that rear axle so will be putting even more load on the rear axle than it would being in the garage, because of the increased cantilever effect. And even if you do manage to get within the rear axle weight limit that will inevitably decrease the amount of cake you can get in the garage.

Thank you for your honest detailed reply. Seems options are limited. Which brings me back to my original 4 options

Or the Hymer B678 like mine. Almost identical layout to the B704, but a tad shorter.

Are you looking for new or second hand? Layouts offered vary from year to year with most converters.

Actually I think the rear lounge is catching on over the water as well, Jon jongood mentioned PhoeniX which don't even have a UK dealer but they do quite a lot of that layout, Concorde also do a couple of RL models in UK and Europe and there are others, but in all cases the garage space certainly suffers.

Having had a Carthago Chic C Line A Class, which we have now sold, I can honestly say we prefer the Rapido we now have. The only thing I miss is the Alde heating, not as fussed with the Truma system....

On our fourth van, Burstner, Autocruise Alto, Rapido V55 and now Hymer and found there is no such thing as the perfect motorhome! . We were happy with all of them and changed for different reasons but all come with compromises being made. Just decide which pluses outweigh the minuses for your current needs/style.

Old enough to know better, young enough not to care

Which models meet the requirements of my short list ?

I've posted a link for you, perhaps you could look yourself?
