Hi all, last year we did St Davids, cardigan, and llandestumdwy in south wales and are thinking of going the other way from below St Davids towards Tenby and Swansea this year, anyone know where to go and where to avoid ?

Are you into history/castles etc if so you’d need a month, how about Dylan Thomas?or beaches so much to do so little time ,caves?Distilleries ,zip wires, walks, hikes?
happy to help , give us a clue as to what you’d like

The Gower is great out of season if the weather is good but can become very congested July/August, Pembroke is great just avoid the main towns like Tenby which are good but popular, for peace and quiet castle Martin good for walking also freshwater east and west,

Avoid Burry Port, it's full of strange folk!!
Nice park and off road cycling for about 10 miles along the coast.
Plenty of campsites and a few remaining free parking areas.

A 6/7 mile long sandy beach with no view of the sea when the tide is out.

they have just put up polite no camping signs in many places but you can still stop o the waste ground in the village by the harbour roundabout but I have the feeling it will soon be very busy.

Nope. Nothing to see here at all 🙁🙁🙁

place is really only suitable for locals 😆😆😆😆

seriously though

st davids is lovely little touristy city, cathedral the main attraction.
south of saint Davids …. Porth Clais . Icecream and snacks , lovely cliff walks. Can walk from st Davids and get bus back. There are 2 small car parks.
along coast towards tenby ,, Solva, newgale , st brides Haven . Marloes , Dale in Milford Haven Estuary .
pembroke for the castle. Manorbier beach and castle. Oh and Freshwater east and west . All roads and lanes passable in motorhome, but some , very few , you might meet another requiring reversing to last passing place / gate.

tenby saundersfoot area busy in summer , but tenby more pretty.
inland walks on preseli hills for views .

overall coast is brilliant, beaches popular on summer but lovely sands.

best advice is get the os msp out and national trust have some lovely locations .

For a while, along while it will be waste ground, the land was allocated for a new Tesco store 8/10 years ago !

It will be now

The " big pit" and ironworks museums at Blenaevon are good. At the Big Pit is is around £2 for parking and the visit to the pit is free with lots of coal mining extras to look at in the colliery area. Well with a visit. But phone first to make sure it's open post covid.

We stayed at Nicholaston farm campsite on the Gower which is a great site. Virtually on a beautiful beach and with quality showers/bathroom facilities.
Would highly recommend👍

We will be looking at using c&cc sites at the moment, nice towns, beaches, pubs and good food are on the agenda, we cycle or walk everywhere so a sensible radius of sites is good.

you should definitely not go anywhere near Pembrey and especially not the country park, it's a horrendous smelly derelict hole and I should know as I visit there at least 6 times every year just to check how bad it still is 🤔:whistle::roflmto::roflmto::roflmto::roflmto::roflmto:

Just along the road is the Whistle Inn, it has a campsitebut never stayed there;

Out towards Brecon;

Website says it all, legal Wild Campng in the Brecon Beacons National Park.

We liked Fontygary near Barry. Easy bus or trains into Cardiff.
Great restaurant and fitness centre. Lovely views over the Bristol Channel.

Other restaurants on site. Also a great chip shop.

Not everyone’s taste but good for a few days.

If you’re into walking / hiking or safe bike riding try Aberdare Country Park ,very well set up council run site ,down hill bike runs (Land Rover lift to top) 5 miles from Tower Zip World ,6 miles from Penderyn distillery and a stones throw from my house 😄😄( I can see the vans when the trees have no leaves as I’m probably about 500 yards away)

The Marloes, is a favourite of ours.
St petrox and the boscherton lilly ponds.
Angle is nice an picturesque.
Visit dobbys grave on Freshwater west beach, where it was filmed.... Stunning beach.

Most of these places are fantastic out of school holidays.
The coastal path all along South Pembrokeshire is to dye for.

And to follow up on the above post, Cardiff Castle and Castell coch are very good.
Castell coch is visible from the m4 at the a470 turn off.
