I'm a newbie
Hi Folk,

I wonder if you might be able to help me please.

I bought my first ever motor home a couple of months ago - a Lunar Newstar 58 made in 2004.

I've already had the 'motor' element checked and serviced (engine, transmission, brakes etc) and although most of the systems in the 'home' element appears to work fine, I have picked up a couple of concerns. As I'm a total rookie there could well be others, therefore I'm keen to engage an experienced professional to carry out a thorough assessment of the 'home' element and then arrange the rectification any issues.

Concerns
  • Shower Basin
    • Several visible cracks
    • Basin is flexible and 'squelchy' even when dry
    • Floods onto main cabin floor and drips externally when in use
    • Potential past and future corrosion to structures under basin
  • Drainage
    • Bathroom and kitchen sinks drain surprisingly slowly, even when waste tank is empty
    • Shower drain has had an in-line booster pump fitted at some point, why?
  • Waste Full Indicator
    • Sometimes remains dimly lit after tank emptied
  • Damp
    • Surface damp/mould on non-window side of above cab area
Questions
  1. Do I need an outfit that is experienced in the servicing of Lunar models or are the skills I'm seeking here independent of makes and models and actually the bread and butter of any decent motor home service centre?
  2. Is there a service centre(s) you would recommend please? I'm based in Hertfordshire.
  3. Have you come across any of the concerns I've got and if so, would you have any advice please?

Have Fun!

See if you can find a replacement sink on here

Drains are often blocked - try a drain cleaner the pipe work will be plastic.
I've never heard of shower drain boost pumps.
Tank level seldom work correctly - keep it drained.
Clean the mould with a cleaner from the super market.

Look for a local caravan or motor home service company on google
