I have stripped some white internal doors.

These were bespoke made for the opening about 25 years ago. Ive had to strip the payers of white paint off. However, Mrs. EuroTrotter now wants them stained and varnished.

Any ideas of how to get the paint of the beading please?. Ive tried Nitromores and it aint shifting.
The beading is well and truly painted in.

Just prise them off with a paint scraper, they'll only be pinned, then replace them.
The bead is readily available.
There's even a small gap to get started in the bottom of the pic.
Chances are the bead is a different paler wood to the door so won't evenly stain.

As pappajohn said, re-bead as you’ll have white lines around the joints if you strip them and won’t look good with varnish/stain..

should only be a few panel pins holding them in place..👍🏼

If they are made from wood you can get them dipped and stripped
You'd have to remove the beading & the glass though to do that ,surely ?

If you want to do the other side of the door the moulding will be built in.i.e. not removable. If only doing the side shown then I'd agree with replacing.

Tip; If you have several different woods on the same door (whatever) and you want the stain to be uniform all over
apply 1 coat of matt clear over (water based), when dry rub with a fine Wire wool (available at any good paint trade centre.) just to take the shine off ( yes! there is a shine although faint) then apply stain.

nother tip! if you can get hold of a premium WATER based stain apply then wipe with a soft rag. BEAR IN MIND ; the colour you end up with, is the colour that is shown when the stain is still WET, after you have wiped with the rag. If it's too light, then wait till it is dry before applying the second coat. Rag again When you think you have the right colour, then apply 3 coats water based clear over, of whatever sheen you wish
The above only applies to WATER BASED STAIN .

Want to use an Oil based , then step 1, on step two don't wipe with rag. Then finish with a oil based clear over for a "proper job"

The modern water based paint is just as durable as the oil based.
