I'm a Total Newbie!
A quick one really.

How long do you leave between using and emptying? Do you need to leave a sufficient amount time for the chemicals to do its stuff and break down the toilet paper and the unmentionably numbers deposited within during the course of a few days away?

For those interested I have a Thetford 365 and have been impressed... so far.

Once it’s full it must be emptied, or are you going to cross your legs for a few days whilst it festers? Inevitably you empty as you leave site but you may have done your last deed only a short while before. Suck it up that you may need to give the cassette a bit of a shake to encourage the immature stuff to depart

I leave it till my wife can bear it no longer.

Now that I have returned home I can sit on my porcelain throne and empty the plastic porta potti whenever, after however long may happen to be best. It’s no where near full, but perhaps it’s best to empty it when returning home after each holiday in the van?

If you’ve driven with contents in the cassette that will have agitated and broken anything down. Empty now as festering will only make it more noxious when you remember in a few days. And then you know you are all emptied set for your next outing

being female, the first thing I do when arriving home is reverse on the drive out the garden lift the cover do the dodo business ready for next time .then in the house wash hands kettle on and can then do the rest of the arrive home/prep for next time jobs. The van is always ready to to get in and go. (just add water)

CamperJack a friend of mine bought a Hymer with his girlfriend. They only used for a few days then she left him , she used to do the emptying. He asked me to show him how it all works ..... this was a few months after she left...the cassette was solid.... don't delay the blue jobs!

I would empty any time i could even after 1 night as we rarely stay on a site and rely on finding a public toilet or disposal point

We empty ours daily, as we tend to use it exclusively, rarely using public toilets, it's also easier to carry and empty a half full cassette than a full cassette.
We tend to move around, so can never be 100% sure when we can empty, so empty whenever possible.

I always make a point of emptying ours before we move on. I got food poisoning when we were on an aire with no services, but luckily we arrived with an empty cassette, even then, it was a close run thing on day three !

I empty ours every day, but just "P" no number "2's" our cassette is quite small, and when we get home cassette out, limescale killer goes in. I once forgot to empty for a few days, limescale was chronic, so now as soon as we get home

It’s a bit like grass cutting............always do it just before you think it really needs doing.

Best to make it a daily chore, before you go to bed. At least you know you'll get through the night that way.
Never travel with anything in the tank. It's unnecessary weight, high up, and only tempting an accident...

Are you for real, just empty it before you have a flood! And empty it when no longer in use.

We empty in the evening usually but always carry a couple of commode liners ( we looked after elderly relatives) for emergency use, just knot up afterwards and dispose of in domestic waste...saves a lot of worry etc.
